THE POWER OF FEATURES:
PART ONE
I must say that I find features in a clickgame very important.. With that I mean It’s best if you have like 2 or 3 ( Or many many more.. X) ) cool features..
Features can be lots of stuff.. They don’t have to be hard to make or nr. 1 graphics.. Although I think graphics are very important, but lets not talk about my fetishism here. I am now giving some examples of some nice, not to hard to make, cool decorating and fun to play or see or do FEATURES!!!
#1 DIFFICULTY SETTINGS:
In many games ( almost all of them ) a difficulty setting is easy and fun to make.
You can do this in many ways. You can depend them on speed, count, time, level.
There are so many ways to do it and it all comes to values. First of all you must think of the setting that matches your game the best. Then you start thinking of something. Here I’ll describe 3 of the above shown ways. The ones I like using the most...
..::Speed::..
You can make difficulty settings linked to speed in a few ways. You can make your enemies fly, walk, crawl harder or you can make your character eat, run or shit slower.. ( Or both if you want to irritate your player.. ) This all can be done with values. When you make an option screen, make a button or sliding thing or whatever you want that has 2 or 3 settings.. Easy – Medium – Hard!
You will make a condision that says: “If (“Arrow”) is (“easy”) set Global Value 1 to 1... Medium to 2.. Hard to 3.. Then back into your play level make the speed depend on that. If Global Value 1 is 1: Set Speed(“ActiveObject2”) to 30..
2 to 50.. 3 to 80... This can be done the enemies aswell.. The will have to be path or bouncing ball... If there value controlled: Just make the X and Y move more away if Global Value is 1.. 2.. 3.. Ect... Try it ou!! It’s good for the lastability!!
..::Count::..
The count is just like the other 2 made with Values.. ( At least the way I am showing and telling you ) You have to make the same sort of settings screen as I asked you to do in the “Speed” section of this article. This will be the same with time so don’t ask what to do if it’s not shown in the “Time” section later oke? X)
Well.. Think of ways to link difficulty to time.. Must know some yourself.. Like when Global Value 1 is 1: Create 3 enemies.. 2... Create 5.. ect.. You can think of that one yourself. One I like is When you have like a spaceship and your normal shooting engine is: Every 00:00:10 + repeat while key is pressed (“Space”).. In that case you can make a nice difficulty setting which makes your ship shoot more or less in the same time.. All you got to do then is add to the condition above.. When Global Value 1 is 1!!! Then you make another one which says:
When Globel Value 1 is 2 etc.... Every 00:00:30 + repeat while key is pressed (“Space”)... This makes your guy shoot faster and slower and makes the game easier or harder... But thats all up to you.. ( This you can do with the enemies aswell.. You can link it all to anything if you put your mind to it.. X) ) You might think this is time but here I was talking more about the number ( count ) of bullets and enemies!!
..::Time::..
I prefer this one if you ask me.. With time you can do anything.. The other parts are also a bit timecontaining but thats becouse everything is.. With time you can make almost anything harder or easier.. Some basic goodies are like more or less leveltime, timespace between next objects or enemies, score and much much more.. All this is just giving your normal conditions some extra lines.. ( The funniest and coolest and best useble part is stupid enough the easiest part! X) )
When you have all your timelinked conditions and actions ready, just give the hard ones the line: When Global Value 1 is 3!!! The easier ones: When Global Value 1 is 2.. Etc.. Etc.. Etc.. You might wanna make extra, only for hard or easy, conditions and actions to make the levels longer and more fun.. It’s all a mather of thinking and comming up with something cool..
Remember! I’m not here to tell you how it’s going to end.. I’m only telling you how it’s going to begin.. ( Now think of the coolest Soundtrack ever!! X) )
P.S: You don’t have to understand my last 2 lines!!!!!!!
This was my first article and I hope it was good for you to use!! You can expect part 2 very soon.. Stay looking with those eyes open.. You never know what good stuff you can find in those articles!! Cheeeeers.....!!!!
