Flashback: Quest for Identity is easily one of my most favorite games of all time. Unfortunaltely, there are too few of these types of games. Out of this World, Heart of the Alien, and the oldschool Prince of Persia are the closest things to it, and great games in thier own right, but that's a damned short list. I just can't help but wonder why this style of game never took off. Most platformers imitate the Mario aesthetic to one degree or another, but these games had a certain sleek quality that most platformers just don't have. Flashback required a certain amount of precision and grace when playing, and once you got the controls down it was just smooth as silk. If you've never played it, go play it now.
Another similar game I found recently is onEscapee. It comes close to the others in terms of gameplay, but just doesn't quite make it. It has the same kind of feel as Flashback (in fact, it seems very derivative), but is kinda clunky when it comes to the controls and puzzles. Check it out here (free download):

What I want to know is has any kliker ever made, or attempted to make, a game similar to these? I have plans to take a crack at it myself, when I finish the platformer I'm currently working on. It'll be a secret-agent style game with a supernatural/horror theme. I just dig this style of game and think there should definitely be more of them. Or if you know of any non-klik games like these, I'd like to hear about those as well.

A non-klik game that is very similiar to Flashback(and even better than it, imo) is Blackthorne.
Its out for oth SNES and GBA. You should try to get a copy of it. Awesome game.
And ofcourse i also reccomend the old Prince of Persia games.
Yes, Blackthorne's pretty good - it does suffer from a hideous control scheme, but you get used to it after a while. The Abe games (Oddysee, Exoddus) on the original PS are also very Flashback-like.
I did attempt to make a Prince of Persia game in TGF ages ago, but I got as far as ripping the sprite and never got the movement system right. I'll definitely have another go some time, though.
Yeah, I've played Blackthorne quite a few times, but have never finished it. It's an okay game, but for some reason I just get bored with it about ten levels into the game.
I guess from the response, there really hasn't been any klik Flashback-style games made, eh? Oh well.
Hey, maybe I'll be the first. If I ever finish my current project.

Hmm i made a complete Prince of Persia engine once, maybe i could turn it into a game??
@Skydragon - Hell yes you should make a game out of it.
@Wong - Heh, I watched your Prince of Persia speed-run earlier, before going to see Lady in the Water. I must say, your speed run was much more enjoyable.
But then again, I'd rather cut out my eyes than watch Lady in the Water again.
If you go to www.fullyramblomatic.com , Ben Croshaw (Yahtzee) made a Flashback-esque engine using AGS (yes that is an Adventure Game Studio) and three episodes of a rather neat game called 1213. You should check it out.
