The problem is you pronounce the r so much the a starts to sound like an O. Nothing against Americans it's just something that's really obvious to me, and probably a lot of other English speaking people

That is like saying that every Brit speaks the same. There are hundreds of accents in the US, and the vast majority of them do not sound like morons when they say the word "Mario."
If wishes were fishes then we'd all smell like ladies' underwear.
A lot of accents in the UK, a lot more extreme here I believe, with Scottish, Geordie, Welsh, etc- yet everyone of them pronounce Mario correctly in my experience.
