Greetings. Does anyone know of a freeware image capture program? I had used snagit9 for my last project video, but I forgot it was just a demo and it ran out. Does anyone know of a good free one? Thanks.

Just push the print screen button and paste the image where you want it.

If you have Vista you can also use the screen snipping tool.

Sorry for not making myself clear. I'd meant video capture. But I can't even do image capture. Pressing the print screen button doesn't do anything at all. Maybe because I have vista. How do I use the screen snipping tool? Thanks.

I use Camtasia for video capture. I got it while it was promotional offer (free, legally!). Not sure what it is now.

Windows Media Encoder is free I believe, though it may limit you to .wmv

For about the seventh time this month... BSR is pixel-perfect and doesn't lag as much as other software I've tried. If you want to get rid of the BSR logo in the corner(s), all you have to do is set the capture size larger than what you want and use a video crop tool to cut it off.

WM Encoder was always a slow pain for me.

Use AviScreen Classic. It works good.

I agree with OMC. I've been using BSR for a while and it hasn't failed yet. Also if you're looking for a good video converter, try Prism

Yea, hmm ... AviScreen is not good for some things, probably what you are wanting is something to download flv vids from youtube? .. or other embedded video?
AviScreen can't do that

Can BSR do that? ... and I thought that BSR was just a trial program and has watermarks over the screen?

CamStudio has pretty bad tearing for me... Yea BSR has one watermark when you first install it I think. I can't remember when or why it adds a few more.
