I think the game was ported to the Saturn before the Psone, but they're pretty much identical. The only difference i know of are some end of level screenwipe effects only seen on the saturn version.
Wasn't the Original version of Rayman on the Atari Jaguar?

Wwweeelll all versions of Rayman 1 were 2D. Rayman GBC was a bit like a sequel to 1, it wasn't a flat out port of 1. Then along came Rayman 3: Hoodlums Havok on the GBA. The rest and majority are 3D.
I absolutely adored Rayman. I also love listening to the music. I originally played it on the Saturn, but then I got it for the PSOne whenever we sold our Saturn, but then I lost the PSOne version and bought the PC version. It worked on Windows 98 but ever since I went to WindowsXP and then Windows Vista, I could never get the sound to work correctly.
Played it on pc when it was brand new. Like circy I loved how it looked but couldn't get into it. Recently got it for ps1 and finally really got into it. Also got Rayman revolution for ps2 which I find really enjoyable as well.
I can understand how someone could be put off by the game's sometimes extreme difficulty, but at the time I didn't have many more games to play so I was kind of forced to play it until the end, which was really rewarding nonetheless.
Rayman 1! I loved that game . I found the original CD a few years back but when I tried to play it, it kept crashing near the start after about the 3rd level (I think there was a mosquito or something..?), anyway, there was also Rayman advance for GBA that was in 2d, which also proved to be quite fun. And I bought Rayman DS for.. DS, and it turned out to be exactly the same as rayman 2, just in small hendheld version, it was fun for a while.
I bought Rayman 3 not long after it came out and I still play that to this day, very enjoyable, great music, awesome graphics/scenery and ok gameplay, although I've never managed to beat the final boss... There's also an unlockable minigame that's just a small Rayman 2d game in the traditional style graphics and music, but with 3d characters.
I really hope they go back to making actual Rayman games, instead of that rabbit crap. It has nothing to do with Rayman... You could put any well known video-game character in his place. There's no adventure or exploring, just a collection of minigames all involving retarded rabbits in some way.
MrPineapple: Well, I bet that thanks to that you have more hair than me
J: I'm yet to play Rayman 3, which is a shame as it looks pretty good, judging by the videos.
EH it wasn't that hard. And I've never beaten Super Mario Bros 1. It just takes a very long time. Think I need to rip this one more time to play on the PSP
Super Mario games are always close to impossible, I don't know how I beat the New super mario bros game the last boss took hours/days to beat. Mario 64 DS I got to the boss though on minimum stars, but bowser was unbeatable. All the other mario games I'd be lucky to get 1/4 through the game.
I have rayman 1 and 2 but haven't beat either. I haven't had them that long. I've got the first one on ps1 (and pc. . . somewhere) and the second for dreamcast.
Now that you mention mario, I haven't beaten that many mario games actually. I definitely beat mario 64... I didn't find it that hard. Although it sat for years before I bothered trying the last level again and then beat it on my 2nd or 3rd try. I'm pretty sure I beat new super mario bros for ds, but couldn't figure out how to get the alternate route to play the other levels, I know in mario world some levels have two exits but not sure about nsmb.
I have not beat the first mario game, I'm not sure if it counts if you use the warps. I definitely haven't beat mario bros 2, I hated it. Mario 3 is great. . . but I haven't beat that one, I own allstars. . . And Mario world I haven't beat either, I need to find that damn second exit to get out of the forest of illusion lol. Beat yoshi's story. . . I have yoshi's island ds. . . which I haven't beat.
Damn I really need to catch up on all those games.
