Love this game! I believe this is one of the best RPG games available on the PlayStation 2. This game was like my childhood!  First time I beat the game, Max's wrench was the only good weapon (Grade Zero). Now I'm reliving the past and playing it again! Here's my stats so far (at balance valley; chapter 3)
Max: WRENCH: Smash Wrench, GUN: Bell Trigger
Monica: SWORD: Shamshir, MAGIC ARMBAND: Crystal Brassard

Yeah, loved that game, i just loved how the game had SO much to it.
Was one of those games where they tried to do everything, but unlike most other ambitious games, more or less succeeded.

Update to my stats. This game is whizzing by! I've already played 20 hours and I'm at the 6th chapter (out of 8 ).
Max: WRENCH: Poison Wrench, GUN: Steal Gun
Monica: SWORD: Ama No Murakumo Sword, MAGIC ARMBAND: Platinum Armband
So pretty much Max has amazing weapons, Monica has a really good sword (only because I won at spheda) and her armband sucks major ass.

Just beat the game  I'm now on the extra chapter of the game (chapter 8 ). Current weapons:
Max: WRENCH: Grade Zero, GUN: Steal Gun
Monica: SWORD: Muramasa Sword, MAGIC ARMBAND: Satan Brassard
Yay! Monica's armband isn't as suckish anymore I had a platinum brassard+12 and I found a destruction brassard in a dungeon, so I swapped brassards and synthesized the platinum and combined it to my destruction brassard to sharply increase it's stats!
Grade Zero and Muramasa are FINAL weapons. Both attack stats over 200! Steal gun has one more transformation to become a "Super Nova" (best gun in game). My Satan Brassard has two more transformations to become the "Love Brassard".
