Hi! I'm making a bit of an game which I'm keeping a little quiet. Easy to code, but story design is a lot of hard work, and gameplay revolves around story.

Most of the work now is in writing stories. It's as much work as level design. There's also a little problem here in which I can't design the story editor without a proper storyline, and I can't design a proper storyline without the format of the story editor. All this stuff are in design drafts. I need someone's help to make things faster

Game details
There are 5 races on some location somewhere - humans, elves, dwarves, goblins, orcs. I took cliche races because it's easier to write and understand. Maybe in the future this could be procedurally generated or use new races.

You get to change the past anytime, anywhere, and see the future. You are expected to change the past to change the future or the future of other races. Although you can see all the way into the future, a lot of the challenge is that your actions might have unexpected actions. You could empower one race, only to find that they're going out and killing the other races.

Requirements
No coding skills required, no game design, level design skills!
But you have to love writing storylines for fantasy games. It's surprisingly a lot of work for writing a story, but rewarding to see it come to life.

I don't need it in code format. I need it in the form of stories that can be told through events, so, I could design the engine to work with all possible events

Example event
[trigger at lvl 6 population, lvl 4 military]
Monom, a master swordsdwarf feels that the kingdom should be ruled by a powerful fighter, not by a sissy noble. He's managed to sway half the military, but the Royal Guard and the elite commando squad still remain loyal.

Nothing) The civil war rages on for a few years, the king is killed, but a freak crossbow bolt shot by a child also kills Monom. Everyone agrees to crown the child as the king.
[-2 military, -2 population, -3 stability]

A) Hire an adventurer to assassinate Monom
- Monom dies. Triggers the 'rebel adventurer' variable, where the adventurer becomes a notable person in the human plot, returns with dwarven riches and weapons, and starts an assassin guild.
[-1 economy, -1 military, -1 population, trigger for 'rebel adventurer']

B) Challenge Monom to a duel
The king dies. Monom becomes the new king.
[-2 economy, +2 military, -1 population, changed to 'dictatorship']

C) Send the commando team to defeat Monom
Many commandos die in the process but they manage to take him down.
[-2 military, -1 population]

The player can also go back in time to remove the invention of the crossbow from history, which results in (B) by default. The ideal solution to this problem is to go back in time, create an elite crossbow sniper squad instead of an elite axe-commando squad, which results in only -1 penalty. But without an elite axe-commando squad, the fortress can't fight off the giants later on...

I don't really have any way of helping, just wanted to say that this sounds brilliant, and I hope you can pull it off!

It is impossible to guess what you will need as time passes, so I suggest you just simply develop a modular system that allows you to adapt it as your needs change.

Or if users will be able to "create" stories in your game then perhaps you should just simply have an updater.

This sounds awesome! I would love to help, but there are too many possibilities for me to make a story like that. But you missed the obvious: Why don't you yourself assinate Monom

Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention. You can only control the leaders. So, you can tell the king to do stuff or command others to do stuff, but not to just make others disappear.

@UrbanMonk: It's going to be moddable. Or not, because you get to see spoilers

The system's designed so that by changing time, it wouldn't have too significant an impact. Like, you could ban water magic, and that stunts growth of water magic, but other events in time could still happen. You just don't get water magic as an option to deal with it. It's still a lot of work, which is why I need help.

Thank god there is someone that still actually thinks outside the box! I'm making a hybrid RPG/Town management game that for a moment there sounded very similar. Doesn't involve altering time though

Just wanted to comment really! I would love to help, though I don't know if i'd be able to dedicate the time needed to it

But if you need someone to bounce ideas off I would be happy to help, input and comment!

I kinda stopped working on this for now, because some bad coding left me stuck Will start on it again, after I'm done with my thesis.

The story doesn't require a lot of time dedication, though, just needs ideas. I think someone who visit TVTropes a lot would do just great.
