Hi everyone. I was going around looking at pixel art, because I like to do that sometimes, and I came across this website.

http://www.pixeljoint.com/default.asp

And besides having some really awesome graphics it also lead me to this other website of a group that dose pixel graphics on commission.

http://www.eworkproxy.com/

I just thought I'd let everyone know in case someone else was looking for someone to do art for there game. They seem pretty cool to me. What do you think?

That's a good question, I guess it's for if you feel like donating some money to them?

I sent the guy an email.

He gave me this pricing scheme:

"As for quote, Id ask 5 things
Credit in game
we need to be credited in game
Display on our site
we need the right to display the project on our site
we will provide link to your site obviously
Logo in game
we need our logo to be displayed when game loads
Deadline
we are quite booked. so whether or not we can take
on this project is depends on the workload
Price
so it's side scroller with only 1 direction (left/right flip)
Animations below
-idle 4 frame
-walk 4 frame
-jump up 1 frame, down 1 frame (you may/not need it)
-attack 4 frame
16 x 16 $30 each $25 each with logo discount
32 x 32 $40 each $30 each with logo discount"

The work on his site looks decent enough, so do you think that's overpriced?

I'd say it's all price and demand. Some people don't know anyone who's really good at spriting.. But then again, that's why you try to find project partners.

I looked at the art, and it reminded me of the random sprites you got with Klik n Play, meaning that if you want to make a game with these guys and let them animate everything, it'd probably cost a fortune.

Not to mention that other people will be able to download the same art for free.

No, those graphics on their site are just examples that the developers of those games gave them permission to use for display.

Well I tried to buy some graphics from them and they said they are booked right now for at least a couple of weeks.

Apparently you have to hire them to do graphics for your whole project if you want to use them, the guy I talked to wasn't too happy with just doing 2 sprites, he said he wanted to a creative input on the project if he was to make graphics for it since their logo would be in the game.

oh well, it was worth a shot.

He did take interest in my project though, said it was very cool and that's the only reason he got back to me. lol

25-30$ per frame is defiantly overprized, especially when they dont give you the full right, and ur project needs to be tagged with there ugly logo.

I think it's per sprite, not per frame..
Still overpriced, i would charge for the entire spriteset instead, like 50$ or 60$ (animated) for a set of diffrent sprites.

Ofc, it all depends on quantity i guess, more sprites, more pricey.
