So I was browsing around old archive.org pages, feeling nostalgic about the days of yore, when I remembered K&P. In 2002 I put together a simple online archive with all the old "classics" that I could find. I've been out of this scene for, uhm, 14 years now? (Feelin' old.) However, it being the very first online community that I was part of way back in 1997, I've kept it online ever since (at the same address - "Cool URIs don't change" and all that...):

http://x.unix.se/klik/

First: I might have written about this a couple of years ago, but I just wanted to give it a bump anyway, especially since the Klik Museum seems to be broken at the moment.

Second: Need more games! Given that it's essentially just a static page and a whole bunch of files, it is likely to be online for at least another ten years. So it's probably a good place to put stuff for posterity. Lots of games from that era (1994-1998ish) are missing - if you have anything to add, feel free to email it to me: anders@unix.se

(Personal request: Peter Newman's Hockaloogie 96+ )

Edit: Couldn't stop the archivist in me so I just added around 50 games from Silky's (all hail archive.org!).

Polish Click Archive:
http://chomikuj.pl/Klikibaza
Categories:

Bitwy i Batalie - games etc. from contests from all the Polish click sites: CFactory, EFactory, Fabryka Gier (Game Factory), NukeBoards (the only one still actually alive, runs the archive backups)

Gry - games
Nieukonczone - unfinished (betas, demos etc.)
Polskie - Polish games
Zagraniczne - very few select foreign games

Inne - other stuff, won't interest you, but still:
Audio - obviously cat pictures
E-ziny - Polish click e-magazines
Grafika - sprites
Silniki - engines and examples
Ślimaczek - the biggest Polish click e-magazine, it got separate category

Programy - programs made in clicks
Polskie - Polish
Zagraniczne - foreign

If you want to download everything, or at least every game, please don't do that directly from the archive--I can give you high-speed access to backups, just let me know via e-mail (only); it's in the profile (domain is o2.pl if you can't read that out). They're 2.7 GB in size and unfortunately you'll have to spend quite a lot of time digging through crap Note that quite a lot of Polish games are in English or have a language selection. Some games from contests may be duplicated. Some contests weren't for games. You'll see...

I'm sure I've got Datsun Simulator. Not sure about the others. I remember having fun with those games back in the day but I haven't been able to run them in recent years because they're 16-bit apps that don't work on modern versions of Windows (is there a workaround?)

Next time I've got a wee bit of time I'll dig through that hard drive and upload what I've got. I always loved that Full Throttle intro to GTS3.

btw if you're ~pnewman himself you should join the Facebook group of old klik community members. Might be fun to catch up!

I'm not pnewman, but I'm from the old skool, been kliking since k&p first hit the cover discs and got on the net in '98, first thing I did was share my games. I used to be around a hell of alot back in the late nineties, but I'm a massive fan of pnewman, can you see if you have Datsun Sim for me? I can almost die happy if you have that!!!
