Has the sub-application been optimised for HWA? My fps slows to about 45 when I run a sub-application in a level of my project. Granted, the res is 1280 x 720. Is there any way of optimizing something like this?

Nope. Use a layer instead of a subapplication if you're using HWA.
I use subapps in HWA, only because my game started in 2006, and it still slows down the game at 320x240 upscaled 2x.

Fair enough, I wonder if they have any plans to optimise it at all, it's very useful for what I need to do. Plus, it just is menu interactions, so framerate drops isn't too deal-breaking. My sub-app actually has like 8 layers anyway - plus this way its easy if I change it, it will update all frames.
