  		 Hey all,

I'm trying to install windows xp, as I currently run the amazingly crap ME. The disc I have is the OEM install so im having to install clean rather than upgrade. Everything goes fine until I am prompted to reboot to start install, when it loads up setup, checks some hardware then says 'starting windows...'. I then get a screen similar to a BSOD that says 'UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME' and some info about the address and what to do. After checking a load of sites and none of them solving the problem (chkdsk, installing hd on another pc and running scandisk on it). I currently have a dual boot windows me and xp setup so I can still run the pc. Anyone got a solution?

yeah, switch to 98se, get virtual PC and run virtual windows XP. 98se is still the best windows, although the next version of XP (XP 2004? I think) should be tons better, as they actually ARE building it from the ground up instead of reusing the win 95 shell.

simple, just turn your boot volume down so it can be mounted
