Merry Clickmas 2025 from TDC!
News posted Today by Joshtek Post A Comment

Merry Christmas TDCers. I hope you are all having a lovely time, with good food, good company, and maybe evens some good video games...

To celebrate this festive period I've collated the entries to the 2002 TDC Christmas Competition which was judged by Chris Street (Circy) & Michael Hadzic (Shadowcaster). These games were all contributed to Kliktopia by Circy with the exception of Sephware's Christmas Chronicles which is courtesy of Alundra.

Meanwhile, Clickteam is celebrating with a Winter Sale for games and software which runs until 5th January 2026:

In other news, say hi to APDGuy on the 'Been a while, isn't it?' Forum thread and check out the 'I Want To Be Human Too' run-and-gun project page recently updated by Sinclair Strange.

Competition Results: TDC Christmas Competition 2002
🥇 1st
Chris (81%): "A very good game, this. Nice engine, lovely graphics and very Christmassy. Aside from the horrid Sonic 3 Ice Cap Zone music, that it. Excellent."
Mike (83%): "This game is very fun and visually appealing. Excellent work by the author, I only wish it had more than one level, which would have warranted a higher score."
🥈 2nd
Chris (49%): "It's pretty Christmassy, but its extremely hard, ugly, and sadly not much fun."
Mike (73%): "Christmassy and challenging. With some cool weapons, this game is fun to play, but could use a bit of an overcoat as the graphics are what brought the score for this game down for me."
🥉 3rd
Chris (61%): "When I first played this, I thought "what a bunch of crap". Two hours later, I was still playing. It's extremely addictive. Good work."
Mike (50%): "Fun and challenging, though can get a tad repetitive."
4th
According to the author: "This is a Bomberman-style game for strictly 2 players (so you must have, own or buy a friend).  The idea is to blow the other player up using present bombs!"
Chris (53%): "A bomberman game, which is extremely annoying. Just above average :\ When I kill Player 2, the game ends up in a draw! The HELL?!"
Mike (50%): "This game started off pretty good, but was very buggy. The elves that change your position do so frequently, and because you can leave the play area, I found myself accidentally walking outside when this happened and getting lost. Furthermore, the game always appears to be a draw, no matter who is killed."

The Attack of the Christmas Goblins  by Klikmaster
Chris (54%): "Hmm...this is alright, to be fair. Nicely drawn presents, but the game is extremely simplistic."
Mike  (48%): "A strange concept, but challenging to play as the game progresses."
Note: This game is lost media. If you have a copy let us know!
7th
Chris (34%): "This is such a funny game, especially the music and the general idea of the platforming sections. Shame it's not particularly good as well. Needs a lot more work."
Mike (67%): "When I first opened this game I thought it looked a bit dodgy, but it actually turned out to be pretty fun, and at times challenging, particularly in the last stage where you have to navigate through the busy skies and drop presents into all the houses."
9th
According to the author: "The idea of this game is to put you in Santa's suit, and you  would have to deliver presents to houses all around the world while still trying to keep quiet not to wake the family in the house."
10th
According to the author: "The aim is to suck the brain energy out of innocent civilians while trying to get from one end of the course to the other."
Chris (44%): "A nice idea, but its impossible to avoid getting shot by the cops, and its far too hard. Aside from the Jesus reference, this game has no Christmas qualities whatsoever."
Mike (36%): "Not a huge amount of gameplay here, it's basically: walk along, press shift, press control as fast as possible for 5 seconds, repeat. The help says to avoid being shot by policemen, but because they lock on your position, and you walk relatively slowly, your always hit two or three times before you can get close enough to inflict damage."
11th
Chris (29%): "Pretty awful, to be honest. Terrible graphics, chances are this will NOT win. Better luck next time."
Mike (34%): "Perhaps I missed something, but does the 5 minute intro have anything to do with the actual game? Not a great deal of gameplay, rather repetitive after a few minutes."
12th
Chris (39%): "I hate to be harsh with this one, because it had potential, but I found it to be extremely simplistic and fairly boring :("
Mike (19%): "This game didn't really provide any challenge; one would expect at least the speed of the targets to increase over time, though I saw no evidence of this. The multiple weapons made no real difference apart from the sound effect."

Piece of Pie's Clickteam Special

'Tis the season to appreciate the many Christmas themed Click games over on Kliktopia. Not sure what to play next? Well, this new video from Piece of Pie Software will show you five such games!

The games featured in the video are:

Survive Red Face's lair and defeat him in this top down game thing.

Comments from the Author:

“Polygonhead has been captured by Red Face once more, this time however, Red Face made sure to cut off Polygonhead's arms so he couldn't shoot him anymore! But thanks to the powers of his magical heart, he might just make it out alive from this one...”

Zombie by Günter

A zombie game featuring zombies.

Comments from the Author:

“The goal is to remove the living dead from the cities and send them back to hell. Unfortunately, you only have a baseball bat and a pistol. Ammunition is limited, but you can always find more. Don't let the zombies catch you, because they can bite you, and then the game is quickly over. At the beginning, there are only a few zombies and they are quite slow. But there are more and more of them and they also get very fast. Can you make it through the 60 levels? Good luck.”

Fusion3 blog on Resilient Architecture (and other news)
News posted 9th November, 2025 by Joshtek Post A Comment

Plenty has been happening over at the Clickteam Patreon while I've been busy updating Kliktopia to add old games from Magician's Lair author Merlyn Lear and others and helping people find old Click games over on the #old_game_lost_and_found channel on the Kliktopia Discord. So, let's check it out...

Fusion3 Blog - Resilient Architecture

Clickteam's blogs on Fusion 3 continue. After September's post on Auto Compiling and the new Shader Editor their October post talks about Resilient Architecture. This latest post provides a fascinating insight into how Fusion3 has changed to more gracefully handle errors caused as a result to the move to a more Git-compatible JSON-like file format structure which will make it easier to track changes and work on a project collaboratively and synchronously. Neat!

Happy Halloween 2025!
News posted 31st October, 2025 by Joshtek Post A Comment

I wish you all a fun and spooky Halloween! As part of your treat, the Halloween Click game reviews and retrospectives thread has been updated with JackorJohn7's retrospective of Boss Gamejam game 'Creepy Tower', with some old reviews of South Park Halloween games, and from a selection of reviews of Click Halloween games by Five Nights at Freddy's author Scott Cawthon.

UPDATE: WE HAVE A NEW HALLOWEEN GAME TO PLAY TOO!

THEY CRAWL by Dannimáx

A spooky tower defence game with an original soundtrack made by ThomasKG. What's not to like?

Comments from the Author:

During Halloween, as midnight nears... THEY CRAWL.

𝑻𝑯𝑬𝒀 𝑪𝑹𝑨𝑾𝑳 is an unconventional tower defense game where insects try to attack your house in search of your candy. Build and upgrade 3 types of turrets around your house in order to defend what's yours. Spend your candy wisely, for it might be key to your survival.

I made this game in around a month's time so it's a short experience. I had fun making it, and I think it turned out pretty good.

Halloween Review & Retrospective Jam is underway... and lost game is found!
News posted 12th October, 2025 by Joshtek 2 Comments

Halloween Review and Retrospective Jam gets underway...

I have started off the 2025 jam by posting a retrospective of my game Swipe-o-'Lantern and posting some abridged versions of reviews I have previously penned for some fantastic Halloween games made in Clickteam Fusion 2.5.  And, thanks to Zekium (with some assistance from BigAl) we now have a banner graphic for this:

The Way Back (Demo) has been found!

Thanks to HolidayGuy1225 the entry for The Way Back Demo by MeadowHare is no longer lost media as they found a copy on their hard drive!

Please search Downloads for LOST_MEDIA on The Daily Click to see what known missing games you can help us find. You can upload games via archive.org or using the Kliktopia Uploader.

TDC Halloween game review/retrospective event & King Magic: Open Source Mash-up by Jess Bowers
News posted 8th October, 2025 by Joshtek Post A Comment

A mix of Halloween and other content for this spooky season, including a new opportunity to gain a spooky tag/badge. Read on!

Halloween review/retrospective 'contest'

I have created a Halloweeny TDC thread where people can post reviews of Halloweeny games made in Clickteam's tools. You can also use this thread to provide retrospectives of your own games, providing behind-the-scenes details and explaining why people ought to play your spooky fare. Entries can be text-based review, illustrated, or even video if you like!

Those taking part will get a badge for participation, and I might even give special recognition for standout submissions. A good starting point to find games to play and review is: https://kliktopia.org/Halloween.html

King Magic: Open Source Clickteam Game Mash-Up by Jess Bowers

Version 1.0 of the platform game 'King Magic: Open Source Clickteam Game Mash-Up Mash-up' is out thanks to Jess Bowers who has remixed King Magic (Rafal Sap), Lyle in Cube Sector (Nic DeStefano), Teppodon (Ikiki), Christmas Conquest 2 (Stephen Lindberg) and Kyoto Village (Sam Cox). Jess also asks "Does anyone have source code for well-known Clickteam games that they would be okay sharing? Lemme know!" so if you can help then head over to the relevant TDC thread.

Comments from the Author:

I started with Rafal Sap's wonderful tutorial, King Magic, on YouTube. If you haven't watched it, I highly recommend it. From there, I decided to switch out the platform movement logic for my own (still using the PMO but adding ladders, crouching, etc.). I then began adding pieces from open source Clickteam games that I really enjoyed (heavilly leaning on Lyle in Cube Sector and Teppodon). I've taken some heavy liberties with the original code in order to integrate disparate games. Apologies to just about everyone!

Comments from the Author:

This is an iOS version of a flash game I made years ago. It's been sitting on my hard drive 99% complete for 10 or so years, so I decided to finish it up and release it. Like most of my previous games it has a sound track by Johan Hargne, graphics help by Clayton Belcher. The usual crew. Yes it's a breakout game, but its a good one I promise!

Check-in from Jonny Comics with Friendship Adventure OST & first CF2.5 build 296 beta
News posted 17th August, 2025 by Joshtek Post A Comment

It's a good time for nostalgia as not only do we have more posts to the What's everyone up to these days? thread started by W3R3W00F back in October 2024, but we have Jonny Comics not only posting OSTs for his old game demo Friendship Adventure but also making his own check-in post on the TDC forum. Also, we have fixed a few old entries at The Daily Click thanks to some new entries I've added to Kliktopia!

Friendship Adventure OST volumes 1 & 2 by Jonny Comics

These Original Sound Tracks (OSTs) to Friendship Adventure volume 2 are the official soundtrack to Friendship Adventure by Jonny Comics!

Comments from the Author:

This is the first half to the complete soundtrack to my unfortunately abandoned dream-game Friendship Adventure. There are some wonderful contributing artists on this album, and a lot of it can be heard in the playable demo of Friendship Adventure (email or DM me for the download link!). I had a great time working on all the elements for this game and I'm glad a solid demo came out of it and a complete soundtrack. Hope you enjoy it!

Clickteam Fusion 2.5 build 296 beta brings per-game effects folders and more

As announced by Yves on the Clickteam forum, Clickteam has published CF2.5 build 296.  Some highlights:

  • App properties: the "Unpacked EXE" option (Windows tab) is now selected by default for new applications to minimise false positives.
  • App properties: new "Effects folder" property, allows you to select a specific Effects folder for the application. This can be useful for example if you modified effects for an application and want to keep the original version in the Effects folder of Fusion for the other applications.
  • Main menu: new Tile Vertically command.
  • Preferences: a new option, in the Skin options, allows you to use button bitmaps from previous versions of Fusion (note: not suited for dark skin modes)
  • Preferences: new "Allow selected layers to be hidden" option in the preferences of the frame editor. When this option is selected, you can hide the active layer and if you select a hidden layer it won't be automatically shown. Note: if the active layer is hidden, then you won't see objects you drop to the frame editor.
  • Event List editor: when you click an object's icon its properties are displayed in the property window.
  • Event List editor: for a better readability, "Insert your new action" lines are now hidden for parent events without actions. A new "Add a new action" entry in the condition popup menu allows you to add new actions to these events.
  • Event editors: the indent size for group and child events is larger and can be customized in the preferences for each editor
  • Event editors: a hatched line is now displayed in the indent columns on the left, this helps visualizing the event structure.
  • All runtimes: new Clamp, Lerp (Linear Interpolation) and Inverse Lerp expressions in the Special object (Calculations sub-menu). Clamp allows you limit a number within a minimum and maximum values, for example Clamp(10,20,5) = 10, Clamp(10,20,15) = 15, Clamp(10,20,25) = 20 Lerp allows you to find an intermediate value between 2 values, for example Lerp(10,20,0) = 10, Lerp(10,20,1) = 20, Lerp(10,20,0.5) = 15 Inverse Lerp is the opposite of Lerp, for example InvLerp(10,20,20) = 1 Note: Lerp is not clamped, it can return values outside the limits. Same for InvLerp, it can return values less than 0 or greater than 1.

History of Spirit Engine
News posted 3rd August, 2025 by Joshtek Post A Comment
There have been no new games added to The Daily Click since the last update, so I'll look back and forwards instead...

Having problems registering at The Daily Click?

A few people have reported problems getting their temporary passwords on The Daily Click. If you experience such emails please email me at josh@kliktopia.org using the email address you registered with to ask for a replacement temporary password.

Spirit Engine DX

If you have a commercial indie game you are launching and want to post it as a download to The Daily Click you need to post a demo, but even if you do not have a demo then you are free to get in touch for a mention on the homepage (especially if it is a Click game or you are part of the Click community). Here's a selection to get us started....

When The Spirit Engine launched back in 2004 Chris Street announced: "After two years of waiting, Mark Pay's classic The Spirit Engine has finally been unleashed to the klik community, and to the world. It's a whopping 40MB download file, but if you find the time, DOWNLOAD IT." leading to a debate about whether a newly launched game could be called a classic. Well, the game has stood the test of time and fully deserves the title.

You can read more about the history of the game from Natomic's Mark Pay himself over at https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/3424270/view/546733396762558733?l=english

And what is that Steam page, you ask? Well, it is the page for the Spirit Engine DX, Aquellex's complete rewrite of the game. For more details see:

Sway Hop Hop and sway past the hammers to collect gems in this first submission to The Daily Click by new member Euingee. Welcome to The Daily Click! This games reminds me of the sort of short  simple games you used to find at the V-Cade, but with more Flash-like graphics. It is kind of like Flappy Bird but without the scrolling and randomness. Its vertical view and simple controls reflect the fact it is available not just for Windows, but also on the Apple App Store.

Comments from the Author:

Challenge your reflexes with some insane dodging! It's simple-hop around and collect gems! The more points you rack up, the better the medals you'll earn. Just make sure not to get hit by the hammers or fall off the screen!
