Im afraid peko is probably not going to happen now Basically, my laptops broken and the files have deleted themselves and i just have NO patience to draw and do all of the engine again
Or wait a minute... you could get a new laptop that's the same model of the one that's broken (If memory serves, I think laptop hard drives are specific to their own model ), insert your harddrive, and THEN do a system restore.
Bugger.
But a rather intense game making friend once told me he relishes losing his game files. It forces him to rebuild everything and make it more effecient and tidier.
Werewoof - laptop drives aren't locked to specific machines, it's MP3 players that are. It's possible to swap out a HDD depending on how easy the manufacturer made it.
i once read somewhere that no data on a computer is ever completely deleted. i dont know if its actually true or how to recover such items, but i agree with james, use this as a learning expirience, and it seems that youve already got your mind set on a completely new game, which might be for the best.
damn computers with alzhiemers. Comment edited by miss chloecakes on 3/15/2009
Oh my god! lol i managed to hack my dads admin account and it is showing my files up here THANK GOD! but james your right, i dont know wether il carry on with peko or just come up with something better i know theres tonnes of stuff i could do better so maybe i will! lol panic over:|
"i once read somewhere that no data on a computer is ever completely deleted"
That's partially correct. Data isn't deleted instantly, but eventually another file is saved over it's location. We're going to try and recover it but obviously it's not guaranteed to succeed.
Basically the Windows logon completely corrupted somehow and it went really peculiar. I've never seen it happen before.
I think you should finish it, whether that means making it shorter than originally intended or whatever. It would be a shame to not finish it as that happens to way too many projects, and most don't look as promising as yours either!
Then start on something new afterwards! Everyone's a winner
"That's partially correct. Data isn't deleted instantly, but eventually another file is saved over it's location."
that makes sense, that also helped me comprend the concept of pointers i read about in the C++ book i just finished and how youre supposed to be careful to not point outside of your program and saving over other addresses filled with other kinds of info and such. thanks for clearing that up for me.
but glad to hear you got it all back, i just had a slight scare myself and it was right before i was about to back up everything but i fixed it okay. with that said, no point in leaving a project unfinished, so take a short break, collect yourself and if you still feel like you want to ditch the project, then by all means theres no point in beating a dead cow.
