Hey, today I have been optimizing a lot of sound effects, as well as adding a lot, and taking off some.
Basically, all the small events that takes place away from the scene, will not cause a sound effect, and all big events will cause a sound effects that sound distant.
For example :
If a bullet collides to a concrete backdrop near the player, a concrete bullet collision will play.
If a bullet collides to a dirt backdrop near the player, a dirt bullet collision will play
If an explosion happens near the player, an near explosion sound will play
If an explosion happens really near to the player, the player will end up deaf for a while, and a beeping sound will play...
Now, if any bullet hits, and the player is not even near to that event, no sound will play, therefore optimizing the sound channels.
But, if an explosion takes place away from the scene, another type of sound will play, an explosion that sounds distant.
Therefore, most of the sounds will play in certain conditions, and those were just examples, imagine bullet coliding with metal, water, bodies, it sounds marvellous...
Of course, the limited channel number on MultiMedia fusion is really bad (32)
Thats why I had to use over 10 DirectShow objects for musics or ambient sounds, but it works pretty well, so I'm not complaining.
I have also locked the Shotgun, Sniper, Dual Handgun and RPG, at the begining of the game, the player will have to unlock theses weapons, with a certain number of score.
Once the weapons are unlocked, the player will have to kill 100 ennemies with it, to unlock the weapon upgrade.
So if you want to get all achievements and unlocks, you're gonna be sticked up to the game for some time...It depends how you play, but basically I'd say it will take you about 1 hour to get all weapons.
Anyways stay tuned !
No pics for today, but I plan to upload a video very soon !
