the 2D topdown shooter with the glorious working title "Zombie Smasherz" has not been abandoned.
After 3 years in the making, my 2D shooter project finally seems like to be getting somewhere else than the trash bin.
The engine improved a lot, also due the improvement of the HWA.
It now features things like motion blur, an advanced particle engine, weather effects, refractive surfaces, realistic lighting, smooth controls and gameplay, full xbox-controller/gamepad support, dynamic level loading, a basic character system (inventory, shops, skills and level-ups), over-the-top violence (), and in the end too much to count.
Right now I'm creating content. It already features 40+ weapons ranging from shooter classics to some really whacky stuff, 12 enemies and several minibosses.
In the end there should be 5 grand missions with around 10 levels each, as well as some secret levels.
But if this has gone for 3 years and is still being worked on that's awesome. Especially for indie games. Plus if it is front page people will see it and encourage him not to take 3 years to finish the rest of the game.
Yeah, all of the graphics are pre-rendered, maybe that's the similarity. In the first concepts I had pixel-drawn sprites and selfmade tilesets, but the looks were quite bad and I abandoned that design. I think it was the right decision
