I love the look and really impressed that you managed to make this in MMF2 and I'm trying to sound harsh... Just wondering if there will be a 'game' to it? Will there be levels and goals to reach? Maybe have some set achievements (hitting high G forces, 200 metre drop etc) that are unlocked and act as goals?
You hit the spot exactly, James! There will be a series of scenarios set on different levels which will require specific conditions to be met. It's a bit more involved than what you described above, but it's not complex at all. It's a completely unique (as far as i'm aware) concept.
It also encourages you to try the same level more than once and tackle it a completely different way.
There will also be a sandbox and level editor mode.
Perfect! Sandbox and levels, couldn't ask for more!
Back in't old days I would only play RCT1 with a trainer that removed all boundaries, removed deadlines etc so I could just make anything. Wish they had put a proper sandbox into RCT
Heh, you could have a Park mode where you had to build and manage a series of rollercoasters. Putting a management sim take on it. But now I'm being daft ^^
As far as i can remember RCT2 had a sandbox (or at least a level editor). RCT3 definately does.
As far as several rollercoasters... the engine i've developed would have to be entirely recreated to support more than one coaster (or even more than one train!). MMF simply wouldn't be able to handle more than one coaster i don't think, unless they were very short. MMF is powerful enough to handle more than one train on each coaster, but it would just make the game too complex to both play and make!
Wasn't 'Mega Park' at the very very end of RCT a complete sandbox level? I can't remember to be honest. And yeah with RCT2 you just amde a scenario with "build at least 10 rollercoasters" objective and just have fun [:
This game more relates me to NoLimits Rollercoaster Simulator with objectives - which is cool imo [:
RCT did have a 'Mega Park' at the end, while it wasn't truely sandbox, it did just give you tonnes of cash (loan) and loads of space to build you could more or less build what you want!
I'm glad you related it to No-Limits, as i feel it is more or less what that simulator would be in 2d, but like you said, with objectives and scenarios which i hope everyone will enjoy!
this looks really well done.
One thing is that I dont see much replay value for this game. Sure you can create different type of coasters, but after a while it will be very much the same.
You should add some fun stuff in there like cameras which take photos of people and u can see screenshots of peoples faces - the more intense the ride the more scared the look on their face.
Things like that would make the game slightly less same old.
