Loved it mate; great graphics, great controls and nice weapons. The colours were a fantastic choice and the space-craft were well designed and well drawn. I would like to see more weapons in the full game (maybe a (seemingly) near-unlimited weapons upgrade?) and some music, however the sound effects already in place coupled with the smooth graphics and cool explosions means most of the hard work is done. Oh and more bosses please!
The only 'bug' i noticed was that there was no weapon sound effect when down to twin bullets, though this was never a problem when having more than 2 bullet sprays. Great demo!
Very neat, graphically. I found it very impressive.
However, the game was completely ruined by the bullets the players ship shot. They far far too fast and far too often (which in my opinion looked very ugly), it would be better if they shot slower and the enemies had less life so that there was a bit more skill in the game.
Also i thought it looked pretty stupid that the ship had guns facing in all directions, this also took some of the skill out as you didnt even need to aim! All you had to do was hold down fire and avoid the enemy bullets.
Ah, I was in 16-bit. Might want to let people know that they need 32-bit color.
Just played through, and it's looking quite nice. A tad too easy for my tastes, as I didn't die a single time on my way through. Perhaps more enemy types with different patterns? In truth I only found the game a bit difficult once I got to level 3 with the "swarmers". Once they got involved, the situations started getting interesting. Maybe introduce them a bit earlier? I also never used a bomb (Forgot they were even there till I came on the project page!).
The graphics are very nice and clean, though perhaps there could be some things in the background to spice up the look a bit. Not sure what would fit in there without being distracting though.
I know it sounds like I'm being hard on your game, but I did enjoy my playthrough of it. I didn't get to check out the sounds however, as I'm at work.
Looking forward to the finished product on this, even in this early state the presentation is top notch, heads above a large portion of other click games. I wish you luck!
Just noticed you said something about open sourcing the game. I give you a big salute for that! More people need to release open source stuff!
By the way, sorry to repost about this. An interesting bug I came across second time playing through. On level 3 when I was being swarmed by the HUGE swarm near the end of the level, I let off a bomb and it exploded, but nothing happened. I ended up dying because of it. lol
I really enjoyed playing the demo. I really liked the graphics style, and the "danmaku"(Curtain Fire,Bullet Hell) elements you've used in the game. The only thing that bothered me is how many hits you have to take in order to die: first your weapon has to degrade to the lowest level, while there's plenty of powerups troughout the level, and then the damage kicks in. You may want to always let the ship take damage when it's hit, just to make it more interesting
