Creating a Pokémon-esque world filled with hundreds of creatures is a tall order to fill. If anyone happens to stumble here and has a cool idea for a creature they'd like to share, feel free. I don't even mind if it's from Pokémon - tell me your favourite from there, and maybe we can transform it into a unique creature here?
Any other ideas are also welcome. If you're wondering about any of the game mechanics (like for battles and stuff) I have planned, go ahead and ask, and give me your opinion.
What do you think would be cool?
In a world where you're out on your own, exploring and collecting little dudes... what would you want to do?

What would be cool (and what pokemon didnt do) is to not have random battles just by walking in grass, it would be awesome if you could see what "Pokemon" are roaming around. Also the capture system could be some sort of cool little mini game which would be harder to win if the creature was a high level.

Windybeard - that's almost what I have planned! Instead of wandering in grass and caves, there should be a kind of 'encounter' system in place. I'm not sure on the specifics, but a lot of the time it will let you choose what you want to fight, rather than being forced into battle against a weakling that's neither worth the 'exp' or capture, or when you're trying to get somewhere quickly. Maybe a creature is wandering in the path ahead, or you see/hear rustling in the bushes. You can approach it or leave it. It could flee (even before a battle is engaged) or it could be aggressive. I also think it would be cool if you could simply make friends and have them join you without fighting.
As for the capture system, I'll be keeping it simple. Perhaps even a 'fainted' creature could be captured - though some kind of penalty should be in place, maybe it doesn't like you as much to begin with.
Dialga - Virizion seems a lot like the kind of style I'm going for with the creatures. A melody or musical creature would be great! The first thing that comes to mind is a plant, water or air type that has some kind of flute or panpipes. Though who's to say it couldn't be a fire type? Or an ice type with some form of windchimes on its body?
