The Daily Click ::. Downloads ::. Review Review: FIG
Very simplistic presentation at first, with nothing shiny to bat it off; just a static image with all the credits on it. The menu employs some neat effects to keep it looking nice, with the rotating/floating planets, and the HUD is extremely minimalistic; buttons will pop up showing you what to press to interact with the game in certain, events, like when you die, but otherwise remain out of the way. Theres no plot to be had, no introduction, none of that, its more a game that gets straight to the point. And while it moves a long way from presentation, I like the fact the game is consistent and unintrusive at it; we aren't forced to watch any cutscenes except at the very end, and everything meshes well. Extremely subtle. What first appears to be almost uninteractive is actually very well designed levels with non-obvious, yet well thought out, solutions. The game operates from a minimalism standpoint; you don't have any skills or abilities, just left clicks on objects. And while some of it devolves into pixel hunts, others take coordination, timing, and thought, and the game is very subtle from its initial perceptions in its depth. I very much prefer this to anything like lemmings, which its so oft compared Very basic, almost hand drawn graphics are employed, without any shiny effects. Theres a huge use of pastel-like stripes of colors, instead of textures, fades or gradients. The game wouldn't look very nice overall, if it weren't for the maniacal attention to detail, lack of repetition and perfect consistency with the graphics; theres nothing out of place, it is all very true to the theme. So while it might be underwhelming at first, it is actually pleasant to look at, and meshes well with the music. The backdrops and non-interactive structures are nicely drawn, making each level aesthetically pleasing A damned near perfect soundtrack. Fits every single level like a glove, and is extremely nice to listen to. What more can be said? The game utilizes the 'lets do everything twice' vein of thought, letting you go through each level a second time for a secondary objective, the blue stars; these typically involve even more complex and unintuitive tasks with the whole 'bang your head when you realize it' feeling. So the gameplay is extended a ton without it feeling artificial, and then you unlock extra content, which is some frustrating difficult levels (though easy once you realize the solution). But once you've completed 100% of the objectives, theres no reason to keep playing. So plenty of gameplay to be had, but once its had its had. Such is pretty much all puzzle games The games definitely one of the best 'Klik has seen. True to its design and very clever, and while not impressively drawn, still very pleasing to observe. The soundtrack is especially notable. Compared to other klik games, this is definitely the cream of the crop
