EDIT: This download includes all the levels for the full version too right? That way if I buy it I don't have to download it again?

was fun

you should add a menu option on the PDA for exit instead of having to press escape, moving hands around the keyboard especially to the escape key from a s d breaks the immersion for me

What I played was very atmospheric and controlled well. I'll second/third/quadrorple the change of the escape key request. I would loved to have continued to play, because after I figured out the controls it was quite intriguing, but unfortunately my laptop decides to completely shutdown in the middle of some games. This was one of them. I don't even think it overheated. O_o

I wish I could give better feedback, but I'm sure you've got plenty already!

I'm going to address some of the issues that have been reported and get a 1.1 version out soon! I'll make the fly power less resource heavy (by replacing the animated picture object with an active object) and create an alternative "close PDA/Puzzle device" key.

I wanted to wait until commenting to see what others had to say. I completely agree about the ESC key issue as it is quite annoying to press when you are in a menu, so thank you for updating that.

However, I find the controls themselves to be quite difficult to use. I think you've assigned too many functions to the one button. Mainly the D button.

If you're not standing right next to something of interest and you press D, the PDA comes up which is often quite annoying (as for now you have to press ESC). I would recommend that the D button does not bring up the PDA, but rather you give that function to another button by itself.

Some of the menus are a bit confusing and it takes a while to work out what you actually have to press to get anywhere. The spaceship would be a prime example of this. Once I got inside and choose a planet to go to I didn't really know what to do. I pressed a button and suddenly I was playing pinball. I really had to thoroughly read the text that you give the player in order to know what to do next. It would be better if the menus were more intuitive. Even things like the cutscenes took me a while to realise I had to press right/left, rather than a keypress of an action key to go to the next page. I don't have a good idea on how to fix this issue of the menus not being 'intuitive' but I have a suggestion:

You should introduce consistency of controls throughout all the menus in the game. Have one button as the "Okay/confirm" button and one as a "Decline/Back" button. This means that when the player is presented with a new menu/screen they will intuitively know that they can just select their option with the cursor keys and press the "Okay" button to proceed. They won't need to read a description to work out which button to press in this situation. Ideally the player shouldn't have to think about which button to press in a menu.

Having said all that. I love the graphical style of the game and the storyline is very cool too. The movement feels good and is quite fluid. I hope that you consider some of these issues so that you can fix the problems that stop this from being a perfect hit game.

Don't get me wrong. It's amazing so far, but if you fix those things that I've mentioned, I'll buy a copy right now.

As for me, I'm waiting to rate this until I play it some more. It seems like a great game, although it runs slow on my comp.

I quite liked this, i'm not a fan of Knytt at all but this is an improvement. Although the controls could be better and the background graphics are so blurry they actually look pretty bad. Also whats with the large patches of solid colour on the grass?

Dam1an: You rated it down because the final product isn't free? That's just low, man. Rate the game for what it is. This isn't a strictly freeware games site (mainly yes, strictly no) and as much as making games is mainly a hobby here, if you put considerable time and effort into making something high quality for the entertainment of other people, I see no reason why you can't ask for something back.

[EDIT] By the way, the game looks good and it's received some impressive feedback. I'm downloading now, if I like it enough then you can be sure that I'll buy it. The price is pretty reasonable!

Price IS a part of the game, and some games COULD feel like they're not worth the price given, so I'd definitely say that price factors into score.
