Ok, so after many hours I've now worked out how to use the excellent 'Alpha Channel' extension by Chris Branch but... if I place an AC object over another AC object and delete one of them in the events editor it kills them both. I want to leave the one underneath untouched. Even in animation mode, if I make one AC object invisible it also effects the other... why is this?

Check to make sure that your events are specfic to only one of the AC objects aswell, if you just copied them instead of cloning. Such as:
Object collides with AC, destroy AC.

I think clone is one of the most useful additions when it comes to making alot of objects based on other objects. I hardly ever use the New>Animation/Background though, but again, useful for converting text to an active object or a background so the font stays the same.

I created a new 'Alpha Channel' object for each object although I used cut and paste for the alpha channels themselves and the animation which is basically a fade out/in.
Anyway, I now have a much bigger problem with 'Global Events' which I will explain in another post.
BTW, cloning is good!
