Im making a platformer in TGF. When I make a background object, I can select the option of making it an Obstacle, a Platform or a Ladder. How do I get the Platform to work?

Errrr...simple, go to the event editor and say "when object collides with background-----stop movement" That should do it. One word of wisdom though...You will soon realize that the built ing movement is no good.

PS. Is this a joke? I saw in your profile that you've made some games so you should now how to do this.

No its not a joke. When I make the Background object a Platform, the Player just falls through it. When I make it an Obstacle, the player gets stuck in it and it cant move.

that happened with me... the player would only stay on the platforms for a couple of times then when i tried to jump on it the next time he fell though it. I believe, if you set it as an obstacle, then detectors can be used to improve the custom platform a little. Ive learnt now though and purchased MMF, and used the PMO, alot better and feels more professional.

Digital Dreams 2: He's using a built in movement and TGF, pay more attention next time!

i stopped using the platform feature ages ago when i discovered the fallthrough bug. You're gonna have to make a custom movement.

sorry i meant to say improve the built in movement. Aggggge shut up. I was advising Kevin to purchase MMF, as im sure many people would.
There is a thread on this site which is all about how to improve the built in movement, using a couple of detectors and restoring the control or the player every so often. Do a search on it, i would but it's probably tricky to find... and i havent had dinner yet... and im too lazy...
