I made my avatar, you can search around google, & personally, I think PNG's are best because they are small, clear, support transparent, & for FireFox or Opera users, Alpha Channel works (doesnt work right in Internet Explorer).
True. Let's say, I take a screenshot and save it as a JPEG using Paint. Now, it's completely destroyed. In Paint you can't select a compression/quality setting.
Now, let's say we save it in Photoshop, then we get the option to set the quality. If you set the quality to 12 (maximum) there is no quality loss and the file is smaller.
Depends on the format and subject. Jpeg have decent compression, but they're lossy. PNGs are lossless, but the compression is't great. However, if you had a 24-bit image that only uses <255 colours, a GIF will give you extreme compression while retaining quality. Just depends on the situation.
PNG still has better compression than GIF. Regarding JPEG, even when set to max quality, there is still a loss due to chroma subsampling (that is taking 1 chroma sample for every 4 luma samples).
- Ok, you must admit that was the most creative cussing this site have ever seen -
It seems that a cockroach in a children show suggest the kids at home to use Gif because it can be animated and you decide how many colors you want in... So what if I can use up to two houndreds and fifty six colors only? If a bug in a children's puppet show said it I'll eagerly take the advice!
What about "White PNG" format? Some people think the book was a classic!
Andy UK: say i were to make a flash animation (a short one) and save it as an animated gif. would that be an option. and how small would it need to be. nvm, gif animations suck. but are there any other good ways to make it animated.
sorry for posting twice in a row, but its the only way to get it noticed. editing my last post doesnt put it as a revent post. ANYway. i still need a place to host. just one suggestion from one person. please.
