Blah, I need a team at some point. It always takes FOREVER to make anything of decent quality by yourself. Maybe next time.

College is pretty much over now, so I can concentrate a little more on a new game I'm working on. I've put more effort into it than any other game so far, and I've spent at least a month coming up with and designing the thing!

Hopefully all shall come to fruition... I may even stick a preview up in a few days, maybe generate some hype

Edit: I've also got the game I've done for college. It's a little large in terms of filesize and there's not much to it, it also only seems to work stable on my laptop, but hey, it's a game

I'll agree that both, people are now taking their time on projects to raise the standard and show what they can do (like moi lol) and that less people are around these days. Exams never stop anyone, i mean, not really. Though klik gaming/games aren't quite as new and popular as they used to be.

There needs to be more inspirational games released like there were back in the day that influence peoples' movement in to creating games. Also, a lot of people that have grown up alongside clickteam software have now got married etc and left the klik world behind with their new lives. It was those guys (say 24+) that used to produce some very impressive games using the most simple and basic software, a lot of whom used to have game producing, or similar, as a career.

More people need to start up teams too, as about (at least, I'd say) 60% of games started are abandoned? :\ Teamwork = encouragement, motivation and shared responsibility etc. More development teams would greatly enhance every aspect (I should think) of the klik games produced and help achieve the quality and quantity of which we aspire to get.

Having said which, you need to find those willing and able to work in a team! Having a LAZY or half-hearted attitude won't get you any where either. ¬_¬ Finding these people shouldn't be too hard; many can be found here already

Well, all that along with the community slowly dyeing .. equals the sparse amount of submitted games. In my opinion. lol.

I kinda noticed a mood change around here lately, prolly since december or so. It's pretty hard to release a little game you've worked on for a while, people expect real heavy stuff and even then you get "nah, not very fun" and give you loads of thumbs down just because you insulted them in 2001. For me there really is no point to make games and submit them anymore. Seems you either have to make a totally awesome hyped up game or a rude joke game to get some nice feedback. That's not the way I like it and I think that's the way a lotta people don't like it. It might be more satisfying to make games for yourself and friends and all, who are you guys anyway?

Uh. I am sure it's gonna be ok.

Hopefully the community will move through it, you know like when people say it's a phase and nothing ever changes back... Anyway most people here will work on games when they should be studying it's just more interesting... And a lot of us are halfway through stuff, it's the newbies that make an influx of games. One day everyone will finish what they're working on and we'll have a REAL GoTW poll .

I agree with what Hayo says too. This being aimed at one particular person:

When people INSULT others for not being perhaps as good as them, in a certain field of development - how does that encourage new gamers? Why would you want to join a community where your first steps where criticized unjustly because they do not yet meet some certain standard? Comments and attitudes like this will deter people from the community, both old and new.

Humility goes a long way, and haughtily slating beginners' efforts will destroy the community altogether.
So think about that wont you "mister", whatever your excuse for your actions and motives.

School's almost over. I got that countdown screensaver counting to the last day XD

Once school ends, there should be a painful influx of games.

Also, maybe a DOTW should be in order? Demo of the week?

Exams never stopped anyone. Heck, most of my games/engines were made during/between exams just because I needed a break from studying but didn't want to get addicted to any games. Never uploaded them because they were just a bit undercommented and forgot about them, lol. I think my physics engine and speech/scripting engine is still on my other comp.

I dunno.. I found a lot of the older klik games to be more fun. They just didn't bother to be polished or hyped so most of them were just simple, engaging fun like that THIS IS SPARTA screensaver. It was something "everyone could make" but it was sweet and simple.

Maybe standards just went up so much that people just decide that it's not worth the time making the game compared to the joy of having your game finished and criticized.

"More people need to start up teams too, as about (at least, I'd say) 60% of games started are abandoned?"
> LOL, that's far below the actual percentage. Unless you mean commercial games

BTW, I just noticed that there are far too few RPGs made lately. Maybe I'll start on one by next month. Engine should be finished end of the month
