I remember aaages back, they were all the rage. A good 15% of all games made with Klik products were Sonic games, despite them being about the worst thing you could do in it thanks to the awkward physics(so they became more basic platformers, or relied on gimmicks).
Some of them were actually quite charming and fun with interesting stories and some nice custom sprites (OmniKhaos/Thirdscape come to mind). A lot of them had quite clever level design to make up for the poor movement engine.
But nowadays, after all the wonderful 360' movement tutorials and what have you, there is next to nothing.
Why is this?
I would contend that the main site for these, wandering around in a zombie like state, is filled with apathetic, highly immature, homophobic, clique-ish 14-year-old-boys, and run by people who pretend to mature yet still allow them to do that. Who wants to make games to impress THEM?
This is online entropy.
I really hope this place doesn't fall to that. I enjoy that there's still a game released here every few days. Once the community falls, so too does motivation, the driving spirit, to finish games. With here, it's a little more generic, there are other places to go to. But it'd still be very sad indeed.
I would love to see some new Sonic fan games. The bar was set so high, most people didn't understand 360' physics even when using someone else's code(perhaps especially when using other people's code), but I wouldn't mind playing something simpler that "cheated" the physics using the MMF Platform object and whatnot.

Admittedly I didn't read a lot of that, but I love Sonic. It's always been better than that stupid Italian Plumber imo.
'BrandonC' shares my love for Sonic and he's released a couple fans games as far as I remember, and an awesome physics engine...
I'd like to see some more Sonic games - perhaps some klik versions that resemble the full Sonic games from the Genesis - now THAT would be awesome The sprites and maps are just a google search away, I'm sure.
Sad yet true Rules of TDC
1. if it has premades, its crap
2. if it uses a default engine, its crap
3. if its a fan game, its crap
4. it does not matter if your game is fun or not
5. if i haven't played this guys games before, there all crap

Bah. I don't judge by first appearance (unless you see crappy resized ripped sprites and lots of RGB (0,0,255) etc. in the screenshots).
I always rip music as I wouldn't know where to start with creating my own and having no experience I would assume it would take a good while to start doing it correctly. I never use music from other games though. It's always part of a track from the charts or something... =/ NEVER any vocals btw...
I don't mind ripped stuff since it's so hard for a game maker to come up with the game, "program" it(even Klik products get very complicated at times), and sounds and music. Sounds and music are probably the hardest - unless you can go out near an explosion and record it, you're going to need to use someone else's. I remember a program called "Sound effect generator"(does exactly what it says on the Tin) but that's only for very basic ones.
But if you're going to rip graphics, you could at least recolour, mix and match or edit them somehow. I don't want to play through another shitty Emerald Hill Zone again.

You don't need an actual explosion to get a sound of an explosion. There's a lot of ways to get a huge distorted sound. Same goes for most sound effects.
I just like it when everything is original, I can't get myself to rip anything at all, down to the coding. It sure is more work and makes it extra hard when people complain about the music not fitting, but for me it is the only way.
Ages back click still had a heart and a appeal. Many years later, click still has the same old appeal (not good imo) and no heart at all. Most of the people with heart moved on and the ones left hardly show their faces in the community anymore, for which I don't blame them.
You can submit a great game here.... people will not appreciatte it at all. You can create something crappy yet with lot's of gore, people will love it. Time has changed, the click community has changed. If the major attitude that the click community has adapted a few years back prevails, there will be no more click community in a few years.
When people stopped putting serious effort into their games a few years back, the community started loosing it's appeal and slowly started dying. When communtiy sited started to battle each other a while back, people lost interest in them and the community slowly started dying. When people became rude to each other a few years ago and didn't treat each other with respect, this community started dying. When CT failed to release MMF 2 & MMF 3D a few years back, people started leaving, looking elsewhere.
Nothing has changed over the years, not even MMF2/TGF2 (inspite of the new releases). Don't get me wrong MMF2 is cool, but all the new features should have been in it years ago and it is still lacking many features it should have had years ago.
I don't think a few sonic fan games will change anything. The majority of this community made a choice, despite the warnings of the more serious clickers at that time and that choice marked it's downfall.
