Hey! This is completely unrelated to my other post, but kinda. I don't like the way mmf's picture editor screws with the selection tool all the time. So I'm thinking of using a couple other programs. Specifically, the Gimp, and Ulead Photo Impact xl se. What i want to know is, if i go copy on seperate objects in the gimp or ulead, will they be pasted as seperate objects in mmf? Say i copy a tree in gimp or a rock and a tree in ulead. When i paste them in mmf, will i get a tree backdrop, or a rock and tree backdrop? Im just asking cause tormshire is using photo something to create his levels in, and i wanted to know if it would work in my programs. thanks.

I don't really get what your saying but... Maybe you mean this:

If you are pasting two frames/objects from another program, completly unrelated to MMF, then there is no reason for MMF to realise that these are two frames/objects... So no I think its safe to assume it will not work, unfortunatly.

Is that what you were wanting to do?

i think Xhunerko is asking whether or not it is viable to use Gimp and/or Photo Impact as alternatives to MMF's built-in animation editor and if pasting images from GIMP and Photo Impact into MMF would cause incorrect selections.

If you want to use Gimp and/or Photo Impact, you'd have to copy and paste your work into the animation editor as an image doesn't convert into a backdrop (i think) and what you copy over will depend on what you select in Gimp and Photo Impact like selecting only pixels on the current layer or selecting pixels in all layers.

thanks anyway. I found out myself. Here's what i was hoping to do. In ulead, you can draw a small piece (ie, a lamp) in one window. Then, copy it as an object, (selection outline) in another window, say a living room. Then, once you get the objects transparency set, you can move it around as a seperate piece. What i was hoping to do, was copy that seperate piece, and paste it in fusions frame as a backdrop object. But, no, like you said, i cant do that. i was just wondering how the tormshire guy was doing his. Is he drawing all those little seperate pieces and then pasting them back into mmf objects? I dont know, thanks anyway.

i imagine that's how anyone who doesn't use mmf's built-in animator would do it. mmf isn't intelligent enough to read minds and figure out what you want as backdrops, backgrounds, and active objects from an fully merged image. unless there is a method that i don't know of!
