This is a game by Sega, not Nintendo.

The only console game I've even played since getting a new MB is Smash Bros Brawl anyways at this stage I could even live without that provided my Steam friends are constantly on L4D or TF2

See, that's the thing that bugs me... I do enjoy a round of Halo e'ery once in a while and I love racing games, and soldiering games are fun! I'm not fond of endless mini-game collections either. (though some I do enjoy)

The Wii's library has been stereotyped as only having puzzle games and minigames and Mario/Zelda sequels, which is VERY wrong. I've always enjoyed Nintendo's consoles because of the wide range of game types. GC was my favorite because you could have an awesome sprawling-world adventure or a racing game or a shooter or any number of things. PS2 seemed to have an overabundance of Fighting, racing, and otherwise dull games without the something that makes Nintendo games special.

And the Zelda/Mario sequels are different enough from their predecessors to be counted as different. In all the oodles of FPS's that are popular right now, the only major difference is that your character is named something different and the setting is a tad different. I don't get why people nag on Nintendo for making UNIQUE sequels and new IP's when they also say they prefer repetitive FPS's and Fighting games that can only vary within a very small amount. (Which are also often just the 15th iteration of a series)

But, it's fine if the Wii isn't your thing.

Yeah i wasn't very clear there, i apologise. I mean't to say "Nintendo are really grating me with their console's 'novelty' games".

I liked the Gamecube (a friend used to bring his round every week when i lived with my ex) and i have an N64, which i have spent a small fortune on. It's only the Wii i dislike. I own a PS2 and i agree it had similar problems with the abundance of poor games during the latter half of it's life. The XBox 1 had a great catalogue in my opinion, and i never even owned that.

Why would you dislike the Wii if it has the same type of library as the GC? O_o There are games that don't make tacky use of the Wiimote and/or allow Classic controllers and GC controllers.

Put it this way, i also used to love the Mega Drive. However, i wouldn't want my next console to be the same as it, i want something different. If you take out the Wiimote the Wii is little more than a Nintendo version of a PS2. With the PS3 and XBox 360, atleast you get games that take advantage of Blu-Ray and/or High Definition graphics and sound, immersing the player into the shooter/racer/adventure games more than the previous generation. Add to this the fact that a basic XBox 360 is still cheaper than a Wii and has a bigger good-quality games library and an excellent multiplayer online community and you see my point.

I dislike having to re-learn how to swing a tennis racket because the Wii's motion sensor isn't accurate.

It's a shame the DS has all these cack games now, I wanted to buy some proper games today but all the shops have are either super cheap "I WUV BABIES" game or stupidly expensive regular games. £30 for a 1 year old+ Advance Wars game? No sale. Ah well guess I won't be leaving my money.

And I really didn't like RCT3, big mofo fan of 1+2 though. Still got a park I made in 1 that removed all boundaries and just filled every square inch. That said I was also a bigger fan of SC3K than the new 3D ones based off The Sims .

For DS buy Chrono Trigger and Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon or whatever it's called. I heard it's out in Europe. Not here though. Sonic Rush Adventure, Phantom Hourglass, Yoshi's Island DS, Mario Kart.

For Wii, buy Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. Buy Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon. Wario Land if you like platformers. Everyone buy Animal Crossing. I got a silver watering can yesterday. What does a hollow heart icon mean next to a person's name? I have one of those next to Adam's name.

Here's for core gamers on Wii.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/943/943436p1.html (Klonoa)
http://wii.ign.com/objects/142/14286412.html (Sin and Punishment 2)

I don't tend to like these sorts of games, but you can go ahead and look if you like something more hardcore on Wii.

http://media.wii.ign.com/media/142/14258123/vids_1.html (Tenchu: Shadow Assassins)

http://wii.ign.com/objects/142/14248157.html (The Conduit)

For DS cores and hardcores:

http://media.ds.ign.com/media/142/14252978/vids_1.html (Lord of the Rings: Conquest)
http://ds.ign.com/articles/943/943555p1.html (Phantasy Star 0)
http://ds.ign.com/objects/142/14278837.html (Tokyo Beatdown)
http://ds.ign.com/objects/953/953463.html (DQ5: Hand of the Heavenly Bride)

http://ds.ign.com/objects/142/14278010.html (Shining Force Feather)
http://ds.ign.com/objects/142/14257621.html (Age of Empires: Mythologies)

Again, don't really play much of these, so I wouldn't know.

RCT 3 is actually very good for building Coasters in, not so much parks, but then I prefer to build exciting roller coasters more anyway, it just takes a bit of imagination IMO.

Oh Psh, that's preposterous. That's like saying the PS2 was Sony's version of the N64. Saying that taking out a key feature of a console makes it not unique is rather obvious, and very weak reasoning. O_o Take out the 360's better graphics and you have an original Xbox. It gets stated overmuch, but graphics aren't everything. You say that you want something different-- not the same as last gen... so why is it that you like the 360 so much? All it did was add better graphics and some more online support. The graphics capabilities of the Wii really aren't all that bad. Sure, they aren't 360 or PS3 quality, but PLENTY enough to make an immersive experience.

The wii remote is actually surprisingly accurate, I've done some work with it in GlovePIE. It's just that not all developers make good titles. Pretty soon there will be gyroscope support in Wiimotes, which will make it even better.

It's really a matter of finding good titles for all of the systems. It just so happens that the Wii's good titles often get overshadowed by shovelware because of its success.

EDIT: Grammar mistake.

I'd like a few of them Jon, just a shame they're about £30-40 (40 for Chrono, thats about $60) here. Guess I'll have to go on a DS game shopping spree when I'm stateside in a couple of months

Moon and Monster Hunter 3 are what I'm after. Not keen on the Conduit, I like my FPS games to be absolutely spectacular or addictive and from what I've seen Conduit looks too... Generic?
DQ10 is a definite for me though, such retroness.
Still gotta play through FFT for the PSP

America used to get a lot of DS games before UK/Europe, but when I was in Manhattan in Sept I found one game that wasn't out yet and that was Viva Pinata for the DS, in the Nintendo World Store. Most other places had crap like Barbie's magical adventure and Hannah Montana games. Virgin had like a bargain bin full of virtual pet games, lol. To be honest people say "Im going to New York on a shopping trip" but there was nothing there that wasn't available in my local city, appart from I NY mugs and t-shirts.
