Wanna have your voice heard? Then let's put it into the next MJK Games minigame release!
So we are making this funny little game. It's a small action-packed game driven by online highscore competition. There is an "announcer" in the game that reacts to various performances by the player. Text is displayed on the screen accordingly, like "incredible!", "so close!", "good job" etc. To make it even more fun, I thought to try to find a suitable voice actor for these announcements.
If you're
- interested in this kind of stuff
- at least 17 years old
- native English speaker
- having a good and clear voice...
- ...and a way to record it
Then post here or throw me a DC mail for more info!
Hmmmmm... I'm interested, but I generally like to make my voice recordings goofy, and I haven't seen whether or not it's a game I want my voice in. (E.g., I don't want my voice plastered on an ultra-violent game. )
MJK Games. Those are the guys who brought us Malayalam
I tried my hand at it, but my voice at 22 sounds like I'm 12. I had a much cooler recording voice when I was 14 :/
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
Hey, great to see such an interest towards the announcer job.
It's not too violent game or anything. It's basically a very small "platformer" where the player has to clear short stages by jumping and avoiding big monsters. Very simple game. Then the game can detect some good or bad performances based on a few variables and announce comments on these with texts and possibly also voice after each cleared level.
Announcing style can be goofy or formal, as long as it's "polished" and good quality. The announcer can get cheered up by good performances, like a sports announcer in a way, so it doesn't have to be too formal. Words can be streched and overstated, e.g. "innnncredibleee!!".
So if you're interested to try, take some time to do a few test recordings, e.g. from these lines:
"incredible!"
"ooh, what a double jump!"
"come on, that was lousy.."
"phew, so close!"
"how in earth did you do that??!"
You can send them over to feedback@mjkgames.com (or upload to some place). Thanks!
