It isn't really a virus though, it's a destructive app which can cause loss of data if you use it in certain ways.
And I can't really agree with it being an insult to indie game design in general, cause I think it highlights what puts indie aside from market design, you alone, as the criminal mastermind you are, can wholly control the end resultat. Either it be a hit game, or a crappy piece of malicious software clad in poetic bull, you decide the outcome. Though I can fully agree that it puts indie games in a bad light towards potential "customers", but a lot of indie games already does that job better.
Obviously it only got onto the front page of TIGsource because it's "pushing the boundaries" or some bollocks. Derek loves that stuff. One of the commenters mentioned that it would be easy for someone to download this and not read the warnings (due to their English being bad, which is very feasible) and ruin their computer. It was irresponsible to post it on the front page, IMO. Should have been kept to the forums.
Now this is pretentious. A poor space shooter game which tries to be important by having "real life consequences". Yeah, the life of a fake alien is worth as much as some important file on my hard drive.
