Yeah so for a while, I've been able to access TDC on my Droid but after the site started having some mild connectivity issues (Wouldn't load until I clicked Refresh Page), it stopped loading on my Droid, and now that the site is now working fine again, it's still not loading on my Droid. Can anyone else confirm this and if so, can we get it fixed? Sometimes I post stuff and would like to see if theres a response and I may not be back at a desktop PC for half the day.

The website used to load perfectly fine on my phone, so I'm not asking for a specially formatted version of the site... the original site loaded exactly like it did on a desktop. I'm just asking if theres a way I can get the website to actually load again.

Sounds like an issue with your phone.
The site loads fine on my iPhone, which is what I use half the time.

no one should ever pay more than FREE for a phone.
if you can get it so THEY pay YOU to take the phone even better!

so if you can get a droid for free (not likely with its 500$ price tag), go for it.

I couldn't live without my iphone now that I'm used to it.

IT's just too useful!

And the built-in phone is a nice touch!

I absolutely love my Droid. I'm barely ever on my computer anymore because of it. The market is booming, the community is fantastic, and with Android gaining so much ground it makes it even better because of apps that work cross-device. For example, Bump allows you to send contact information by simply bumping two Android devices together or Google Latitude where, permission given of course, you can see where all your friends are located using GPS on Google maps.
You've also got stuff like word processors, PDF viewers, sound recorders, Youtube, voice search, etc. Second half of the year, Adobe is 'supposed' to be releasing Flash 10.1 for Android 2.1 devices (Droid included), whether it'll happen is up in the air cause it was due for the first half of the year. We'll get it eventually though. The USB tethering became extremely useful when I had to fix a friends laptop and the laptop wasn't detecting the wireless network.

In short, yes I would highly recommend the Droid.
@Nick, Verizon is actually one of the best service providers - in the US at least. It's got the widest coverage and I've never had dropped service.
@Cecil, you can buy a Droid for $200 and get a second one free. Two year activation of course... but why would you buy a phone like this and not plan to use it for a while?

I have a Droid also, and the site loads just fine when connected to Wifi, but won't work when using the 3G service. Must be something related to Verizon's network.

Am I the only person not to see the fascination of using a phone to do a lot of their tasks? I always have my netbook on me (Weighs 1.1 kg) for writing odd documents, browsing or playing 2d games. I have used numerous smart phones and i think entering text on them is so damn slow.

Perhaps I am getting old but I also fail to see the reason people love facebook so much. Why do I need a 3rd party to keep in touch with my friends of which I speak to on a regular basis anyway or have their contact details. My cynicism is developing far too fast

Well with the Droid you have the slide out keyboard to type, plus it's a lot easier to keep on you at all times since it fits right in your pocket. I would get a netbook but only to type notes up in school. A smartphone like the Droid or Nexus One (or any Android device really) can do a lot more than a Netbook because you can hold them in the palm of your hand and do simple 3-10 second tasks without pulling out a netbook and looking for any kind of surface to set it on.

If its anything like the G1 keyboard its useless for someone 6 foot four with hands like George Foreman - so even replying to a email or posting here I would find MUCH easier and a lot quicker on a netbook. The netbook can do more thats obvious , I mainly use mine for taking data in experiments (as my old huge desktop replacement toshiba was getting old) but I always carry it with me now. I really just can not be bothered doing anything semi serious on a mobile, apart from say perhaps checking a train timetable (or sports scores - if i was interested).

For normal/gaming computing I have a Core 2 Quad desktop with an HD4870 and a 24 inch monitor. So if I want something doing fast and well, I go on there

I recently got a Droid and have the same issue. It's strange because the opera mini browser will load TDC, but the built-in one won't. DNS issue?

Unfortunately, the opera mobile browser stinks. Wonder what's causing it...

By the way, I almost agreed with you here when you first posted it. I needed a phone for college so I bought a good one. It doesn't replace using my laptop, but when I'm out and about, it's nice to check my email and facebook. It also keeps me from getting lost in the 'Nati.

I still don't like when people are constantly looking at their phones though. Had one student reply to a text while he was up front talking to the professor after class.

I use Dolphin as my main browser and it wont run it. I also recently downloaded a new one that's in beta called Skyfire which lets you view video from almost any site right inside the browser app itself, including Youtube. It's a lot faster than the Youtube app and automatically uses the high quality setting.
