IMHO having a non timelimit demo which shows Klik range product power as easiness of exporting to different formats is great step ahead. I just have to install it and check are there any informations in the software itself about other versions.
Well I think it is pretty obvious that clickteam has been losing most of it's userbase in the last few years.
Just compare it to what it was 5 years ago, how can you say it's better than ever ?
Most klik communities died, and the ones remaining (tdc and the clickteam forums, afaik) are nowhere as popular as they once were and there are less and less klik games being released. Go the unity or game maker forums for example and you'll be astonished by how many active developers they have and how many games are released every day. Clickteam once had a similar userbase, nowadays they can't even be compared.
As for what I consider to be the difference between a demo and a free version:
A demo is exclusively meant to showcase the full product and not meant to be used for any serious project because it is too limiting, while a free version has some features cut from the full version but can be used normally with no need to buy the full thing to make what you want.
The TGF2 newgrounds edition falls somewhere between both, hence why I called it an extended demo. It's definitely not going free, but it's slightly more than a demo. If you are thinking about making flash games, then you'll face several restrictions, but as long as you're not serious about it then they can be ignored. If you are thinking about making windows games then this is a demo with no time limit, so it's close to useless.
There is still no comparison with unity indie, udk or game maker 8 compared to their full counterparts. Plus it's a feature-incomplete version of the cheaper version (tgf2) of the actual feature complete thing (mmf2) so I'm afraid a lot of people will assume this all there is to it and will not be interested in looking further into clickteam's other products.
Anyway, I really hope you are correct when you say clickteam know what they are doing, but these last years don't really reassure me.

I don't know.. I'd say it certainly has a lot more awareness, but is actually much less popular. When I mention MMF to people, a lot of them say they know about it, used it, but switched away from it. Or that they're not using it because it's too expensive.
My university uses GM to teach basic game design, because it's a lot simpler to obtain for casual game makers.
Anyway, the topic about free TGF, etc has been around for a while, and Clickteam isn't budging on their business model.
