Hello. I need to rip a DVD to avi or wmv or whatever. My experience in trying to do this a few years ago with DVDs I had bought/rented was a giant pain in the arse and largely unsuccessful, but I'm hoping that the wondrous pace of technology has brought DVD ripping down to a one-click operation. Now I just have a few home DVDs I'd like to send to friends. Anyone have any recommendations on good software?

Cheers.

Any advice on video conversion software? Perhaps in an ideal future there will be one single freaking video format for all devices. I use Total Video Converter at the moment. Is that the choice of the professional, or is there a better one that I'm not-so-blissfully unaware of?
