Hi

Me again (sorry) Basically im trying to achieve a counter using the surface object. The counter needs to be a ring shape and minus percentages of the ring starting from a certain point when needed. Basicly like taking bites out of a donut.

I have scoured the net, downloaded Looki's examples and still have not got any clue as to how this is done however everytime i ask anywhere i get told to use the "surface object" as its the best way to achive this.

I cant use a basic active with different frame of animation as the max value changes alot and so does the percentages removed. I really dont want to have use a bar counter as it wont look good.

Im not a very good coder and any advice is greatly appreciated, Im trying to learn more but just cant seem to figure this one out

I am happy to do it another way if anyone has one.

You can use the active idea just fine, and depending on how many frames it has it'll look just as good as the surface object if not better.

So first just make your object with as many frames as you want.

Next just use this formula to set the correct frame:

(#frames/(max-min))*(value-min)

I havent actually tested this, so it might take some tweaking. It should work though.

thanks for the advice. Problem with the active object is it will be around 200x200 pixels with over 100 frames all with transparency. that would cause havoc with file size. Plus it will be on over 100 frames.
