I'm looking to work on a project to help hone my artist skills, preferably some pixel art animation work. My preferred style would be Anime characters. Pixel art/animation, Title Screens or Character panels for face expressions etc. I dont mind working on either. I don't have much experience with pixel animation so this is what i'm looking to focus on, bare in mind if you require pixel animation it will take longer naturally as its a learning process for me. I would be looking to reach a level of skill like the characters in this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LliuFIB6-cw
The bigger the sprites you try to make, the easier it is to notice the flaws. So when you are just starting out with pixel art the last thing you want to try to do is make big fighting game style sprites. Start with something much smaller, and once you have an idea of what's what, slowly try to make bigger sprites.
Personally, I think the art in that video is normal line art, scaled down to the size of a fighting game sprite, then touched up with pixel art as needed. Which is basicly how Capcom and SNK go about making their 2d fighting games. In other words, none of it is done totally from pixel art only. So to try to mimic something like that both your line art and pixel art skills need to be on point.
Anyways, the best way to learn is by doing. But just as you can't learn much from tracing a drawing, you can't learn much by simply editing other pixel art. Anyways good luck.
The art is very good in that video. However the characters themselves need some more attention in something like Photoshop, then they will fit better with the background renders. Other than that minor nitpick I'd say that game looks and plays great! More often you will find 3d modelers doing the job of traditional 2d artists since you can mimic that style with cell shading. It's tedious but animating 3d models in the end is easier in my opinion.
If you had bothered to read his post you would have realived that that video isn't his... That was just an example of the art skills OwenE would like to have.
Nope I didn't read the post at all I just randomly commented on nothing. Silly me!
I thought my post was crystal clear? Did you read my post? "That" video and "That" game? Nowhere did I imply the game in the video was the posters material. I watched the video and left my 2cents is that so hard to understand?
Very nice art. You draw like a girl, but I guess that's a good thing
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.

Since the person who made that game/video is more then likely some Japanese guy who doesn't come to this forum, leaving C&C about it makes you look very foolish.
OwenE didn't post saying "Hey guys, I found this video on the net. What do you think about it?" He was asking for help on how to draw/pixel like the art on the video. Seems really simple to me, but this point went totally over your head. Twice.
You have the freedom to post as much as you like. But from my reasoning, if you're not going to address the matter at hand, then why bother posting?
@tetsuya_shino
You don't say? Just stop. The internet is a place for opinions. You commented on the video as did I about the art. Complaining about my post is only making you look foolish. I vaguely suggested the poster look into 3d modeling applications because in the end they will make his life easier. This seems like an entirely logical and simple thing to understand but it appears to have zipped by your head at warp speed faster than Captain Kirk on the enterprise.
