I am quite frustrated with creating a functional dialogue system. I need an open source example or a step-by-step guide.
An example of the type of dialog system I want is from the game Treasure Adventure Game on this site, where you interact with an object and then text starts to scroll.
Any help would be appreciated.

The reason you're frustrated is because it's really hard to make a functional dialogue system. Luckily for you I (ripped off some guy who) made one!
But really, there's a tutorial on the Clickteam website right here: http://www.clickteam.com/creation_materials/tutorials/download/Dialogue_tutorial.zip
If that isn't what you're looking for or you're having trouble implementing that, just post here and I'll post my system with an example "game".
If you put a million monkeys at a million keyboards, one of them will eventually write a Java program.
The rest of them will write Perl programs.

Thank you for your help. I will look at the example you posted and try to implement it into my game.
I will let you know if it managed to work in the next couple of days.
The example "Game" you mentioned would be helpful if you could show me how you incorporated yours.

I would like to see the example game anyway, just to see how you implemented it.
