While doing a bit of research today regarding game design, level design, and so on, I uncovered a blog kept by a professor who teaches video game design and authoring. He posted his notes from lectures he attended, including two keynote speakers: the Creative Director of BioWare, and Paul Stephanouk, an Executive Director from Zynga.
If you want to break into professional video game design and production, these notes are a superb starting point.

The entire blog itself points out many insightful aspects of the difference between being someone who plays games, and someone who makes them. It is VERY valuable to those wishing to move in the direction of their 'big break.'

I can't recall, but didn't BioWare also have a lot to do with the making of the original D&D Baldur's Gate for the PC or was that Black Isle Studios? (Or both?) That was a hell of a good game, back before the BG series turned into all hack and slash for the consoles.

I seem to recall Black Isle Studios and Baldur's Gate going together somehow. But I DEFINITELY remember BioWare and NeverWinter Nights. I was symbiotically linked to that game for like three years running.
