hey, i am still deciding on what my first game will be. it will have good graphics, not the best graphics uve ever seen but 3d...good backrounds...and all i need is a plot...
so i was wondering if you guys could help me with an idea for a perfect game. and i would want it to be gta1 style...like u know how it is a birds eye view and when u walk to the side of the screen it scrolls..what type of game is that...is it rpg?
anyway, cant wait to hear your ideas
I wouldn't call it an RPG - GTA was a "crime sim", or in more general terms just an Action game.
Let me point out again that you're still being a bit ambitious - try learning MMF slowly before you start on anything big. I know that I wouldn't be able to make a GTA game without a lot of difficulty even with my experience.
Your first game? how do you expect that to be a perfect game?
when you start creating games, your first 5-10 games will be crap, after that you can try to create perfect games.
5-10 games!!!!!!! then i have lots of crappy games left!X)
Beware of life ...so far noone have survived it.......

Yea, your first game won't be perfect. Nobody ever makes their first jump , meaning nobody's first game is perfect.
A gta style game is pretty hard seeing as though gta is built on a 3d engine. You could do it with just bird's eye view. Many people and groups have tried to remake a gta game, nobody ever finishes them. Lol, one group i got into barely started. Maybe you should start small then build your way up.
i dont intend to make 5 to 10 crap games, but iges making a gta type game would be hard. i want a game that people will like, and it WONT BE CRAP. this is wat i need on a good game right?...graphics, a good plot, and fun....can u guys help me with a plot and how to make it fun...i am having help with graphics alredy.
I don't mean to put you off but 'fan' games (remakes of successful commercial games) tend to go wrong somewhere. you should use all original ideas!

They don't always go bad, it's just alot of n00bs make them because they think "wow i wish i could make that." That's why they buy clickproducts. But some xperts that make clones of games or fan games turn out really good.
okay...well can sum1 plz teach me how to make 3d sprites and also i need help on an idea for a game,
c'mon peeps.

Come up with your own ideas, because if someone else comes up with them your game then becomes unoriginal, (sorta). If i come up with a good idea, i don't go telling everyone until i have something to tell, eg. a preview.
my first 50 games were crap lol.
i am remaking an odd game because i have gave up on Matrix (person animation looked rubbish) and Ultima Warrior (had animation problem and a bug which cannot be fixed)
i might give Ultima Warrior a second try.
perhaps trying something a little simpler than gta would be better for a first game.
if you arent experienced in using the click products then it will go over most peoples heads to make such a game, unless you are already experienced in coding c++ or vbasic or something.
You first say: "it will have good graphics, not the best graphics uve ever seen but 3d...good backrounds..."
Later in the topic you say: "okay...well can sum1 plz teach me how to make 3d sprites and also i need help on an idea for a game, c'mon peeps. "
So what you're saying here is that you can't make graphics, you don't have a storyline, and you can't code well either. Hell, you barely even have an idea. Instead of "Perfect Game" you should have called this post "Can someone make a perfect game for me?" And our answer would have been NO. On second thought, scratch the 'Can.' That would be too polite for the content of this post and your other ones.
Oh, by the way, I don't expect you to pay attention to this. You've ignored everyone else trying to calm you down or give you some down to earth advice. I'm just trying to show everyhow how dumb this is. There's two of [Game[wACk]xxx]'s posts in the current 10. They both have rude and impatient tones. Shouldn't there be some rules against posting too much stupidity?
i am sorry...i do have a story line...also, where can i download sounds etc for my game? like gunshots, screams and stuff...and is any1 here quite good at making midis?
Whoa, sorry to throw off your topic. I think a good plot for your game would be where your in the FBI and you chase after suspected criminals. Wouldn't be too hard to script, since its your first. First well... full production.
i allready have a good plot thanx...
but i am now looking for sounds of gunshots, screams etc....also, i need sum1 to tell me a really good midimaker i can download
no no no...okay...is there a WEBSIATE that i can goto to DOWNLOAD gunshots and creams and carbrakes etc....and now a seperate question...where can i download a good midimaker?
Today is your lucky day i just had music today and my music teacher told the class to download these heres the ones:
--------------------------------------
Notepad
Sibelius (7 day trial)
Finale (7 day trial)
Noteworthy (Best freeware one, no time period)
--------------------------------------
thats all i can remember, i shoved it in my locker at the end of the day so theres probably a bit more on there.
cool...i might get the free one with no timne period...also, where can i download sounds etc??? hmm...who likes the idea of this game...
okay...u are in a corrupt city where crime rules. even the cops are bad...the city gang ( idont have a name for you or the gang yet) have taken your son and are threatening to kill him if you dont cough up 5 hundred G's. your blood boils when you hear this and he is off to search for his son..you must let no1 in your way...there will be the gang leaders thugs, dirt whores, badass cops etc to pass through. you must travel the streets in search for your son....
who likes??? and how can i improve the storyline (plot)?
Want to make the perfect game? Here's a link to an article I wrote for the Ultimate game, mind you, not for noobs, but you seem enthusiastic:
http://www.create-games.com/article.asp?id=373
Of course, that article has several mistakes I made a while ago, especially the part about everyone thinking that I'm stressing on storyline. I'm planning to write a revised version of the article (this time I'll actually read it over) but so far, every time I've attempted, the damn browser seems to crash >:/.
So, till my new article on making the Ultimate Game comes out, here's a few more tips I'll add:
1. Never attempt to make a perfect game on your first attempt. Especially not with MMF. If you're even gonna try, rip lots of graphics and do virtually no work except putting it all together. Example: Laxius Power.
2. A perfect game has lots of character interactions. That is, your characters are actually 'living', they're not just a bunch of stats or walking turrets.
3. Graphics are important but what's most important is that the player loses sense of everything around him/her. That is, make them so involved in the game, they'll never want to rip themselves away from it. It becomes... an addiction.
4. If you actually plan to ever finish this perfect game of yours, DON'T DO IT ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. Part of perfecting yourself is making mistakes. Do the simplest form possible of the game, probably an engine or something, then build up from it with each new version you make. Learn from your old mistakes and fix em.
5. Don't even try it with KNP or TGF. The 256 active object limit hurts.
If you want some sounds, sprites, etc... just do a search on Google for it. Type gunshot sounds, and search . If not, there's always Yahoo.
Personally, I fell into the 'I wanna make the perfect game' trap when I was younger. I'm still stuck in it, but at least I'm climbing out.

I haven't read all the replies as I have only 5 mins to spare, but I'll tell you this. I tried to make a 'perfect' game once. But then I realised that my first game was already 'perfect'. And my next full game shall be a perfection of the first.
See.. you have your reasons for starting on creating games. Maybe you wanted to make a game of some type. Action, RPG, whatever it is, you liked it and you wanted to make your own. So, just take a look at that game and improve it. Build on the world. If it's an action game like GTA, expand the cities, the world, the characters. If it's an RPG, build more fantasies around your fantasy.
Your first game should be perfect. But perfection is not about having everything just right. It's about having something that you can improve on infinitely.

I think the plot needs to develop a litlle. What would a criminal gang need money for if they own the city? Add a litlle more background: Where do they excpect this character to get 500G from? Is there another story behind the cidnapping? Maybe they just want to kill the son for revenge. Doing it just for the money would be kind of shallow (not to mention a tidy bit cliche), and it would be pretty amateurish of the gang to cidnap a random kid and excpect either a paycheck or a kill (at least in the eyes of some people). Revenge is also starting to become a cliche really soon, so you'd might prefer to complicate matters a litlle further. Maybe they even like to see people struggle for the love of their family as a sport.
Did I really say "Good plot" two years ago? I must have been trying to get rid of him. Gamewack was hilarious, and I'm indebted to RaphX for getting rid of him. I think I still have the chatlog somewhere...
Wow... 2003. Amazing how little I've changed since then . Should've realised that the guy's probably dead instead of making new games.
Phizzy, what I meant was that it had the potential to be infinitely improved. A lot of games are pretty dead ended. Bad games like um... those clones, Barbie games, Serious Sam have nothing to improve on. They started bad and there's just nothing you could build on.
"Perfect" games like Everquest, Final Fantasy, ADOM, Half-Life, have plenty to build up. Games like FF can never be perfected because they're limited by the combat system and old ways. The only way you can perfect a bad game is by making a remake of it.
