Is there a way to place 3D models over pre-rendered backgrounds in Multimedia Fusion? Like in the Mario Party games on the N64 and the Final Fantasy games on the Playstation?

Sorta. There is a 3D mesh object, but last time I messed with it it was limited in it's capabilities.
Try it out for yourself and let us know.

I saw an example with animated 3d models on the clickteam forums a long time ago. I can't remember if it was the OpenGL object or the 3d mesh though . I don't remember there being much code.

Just downloaded the 3d mesh object and it comes with an example that has a 3d model with animations in it. Since pre-rendered backgrounds are 2d this should be possible. You can adjust the scale in the event editor to give the appearing of depth.

I gave this a half-hearted attempt some time ago with the 3d mesh object, but gave up. I figured you need a walk mesh as seen here:

So, you still would need to do this in a 3d engine...

But that was just my conclusion, so if you figure something out, please share!
