I read the article on the to be or not to be of a klik magazine and my reply was as follows...
"A click magazine would be cool. A real life, made of paper magazine. It wouldn't be too hard or expensive or time consuming to make a yearly magazine. That would be pretty neat. It could be a nice thick thing with the best and worst of the year and a few articles on things to come the next. And if it only comes once or twice every year there would be enough cool things to fill it with. A monthly magazine would barely be possible. At least not without real employees working on it as their day job. And it would be expensive and noone would buy it. Also, there wouldn't be enough material some months to put together a decent thing to read. A once/twice a year magazine could be done by a few klikers and the price would only be as much as to pay for the costs to print/ship it. I would help for free. I have three years of publishing design in me and also a little writing. It would be a cool project!"
My mind got stuck on the idea and I was just wondering what people think, how many would help (really help!), what people would pay for it, and misc comments and stuff. I'm talking about a professionally made, thick, crawl up in your favorite spot and read and read and read kind of magazine. It would come out once in a year or so.
I could take on the job with putting it together and getting it to print, shipping and other stuff plus I'd be writing and designing, illustrating and much more together with the bunch of you who joins me. The price would be calculated to cover my expenses and nothing else.
It would be cool to just see if it is possible to get a crew together and produce a magazine through the internet. I believe nothing like that has ever been done before.
The crew would concist of, let's say, 5 to 10 people. And it would be good if the ones doing interviews and writing and so actually had some form of journalist education or interest as this would add to your CV if you ever applied to a job at a magazine. One of the reasons why I would do this is to improve my own personal portfolio.
Okay folks, let's hear what you have to say!!!

Sounds like a good idea....reminds me of the Klik Disc.
Its quite a commitment, even bi-monthly would be difficult.
Make no mistake, one needs a dedicated team to pull something like that off. Mail me if you need any help!
Mayhaps.

Nioreh,
Ive allready made a topic about a magazine (maybe you havent seen it, and maybe you have).
Its here: http://create-gamescom.readyhosting.com/forum_post.asp?id=40377
We may have similar or different ideas, but when we both have something quite common in mind, then why not meet online and talk? Maybe we cannot agree on anything, and then we must do separate magazines, but maybe we can agree and help each other instead of working separate or against each other.
I suggest you DC mail me if you want to talk with me ... I use messenger, icq and irc. So choose a way and tell me how to contact you... that is, if youre interested. I know I am!
If you knew, I would have to kill you...

I don't know, if it's only going to be yearly than it would be impractical for me. I think it would be awesome if this community were a lot bigger and it was distrubuted monthly or bimonthly. That would make me happy.

Well, don't get me wrong. I'd love for the thing to come out every month, but that's impossible! That is unless we make it a very thin magazine with some form of subscription. And maybe that's not such a bad idea either. I mean, that way we could get a page or two with mails from readers, we could get a few new games and a few previews and some articles and tutorials, but it would mean a shitload of work to get it out to people around the globe at a specific date every month. And I don't think people would pas subscription costs to something that might come this month, might come next month. I'll DC mail you guys also.
And I need more comments from everyone else! Would you buy this at all??? It's no fun at all making a magazine that noone would buy!
