I'm a big time Everquest player, myself. I've been playing it for about four and a half years now. It's really rather redundant at this point. I'm starting to play Final Fantasy 11, which has refreshingly new content for me to view. But I'm beginning to want to get back into my offline console games that don't make me feel like I need to be online all the time in the event that some real life person across the Internet whom I don't even know in person needs help, or a group of people in the guilds I'm in are raiding some place and I need to get on to maintain my membership.
I was shown Runescape a few years ago by my younger brother. The amatuer free subscription programming rang headaches from the bad graphics as well as all of the free game finders who have leet dood attitudes out there who will bash other players and generally try to give people a bad day or hard time just to satisfy themselves who are all quite possibly little children who are very picked on in real life... But hey, as long as they keep up that attitude they might fool someone, righ?
Anyway, when it comes to online games, it's either Everquest or Final Fantasy 11 for me. It pays to pay for professionally made games and not play free games that you paid nothing for but your internet bill (or nothing at all if you're still a dependant).
People are actually using the game Everquest as a "Cash Cow". That is, they are exploting the game as a means for mass amounts to cash, even though it is against the game's user agreement policies that you agree to whenever you start the game up. They set up "farms" around the game to gather much desired items and in game money and sell it out for real life money in large amounts to those desperate addicts. This also includes selling accounts and individual characters.
Runescape rocks! Yuyu, I had TWO pretty pink capes. Nyah! Chamzel, they have a new 3D version under that has less lag, pretty graphics, the option to gang up on jerks with dood attitudes, and it's STILL free. I tried it (I'm a member--worth every penny, in my opinion.) and it makes runescape 1.0 look bad.

Alrighty then. Set me up with how to check into it.
Here's some additional interesting information you might not have heard about online games.
Be warned about them. You may not believe this, but online games can be very overly addictive to a dangerous extent. The requirements for grouping in lower to high ends of all online games requires great interaction between players, which leads to creating online Internet bonds of friendships. This causes a lot of people to stray away from the Real Life world. This leads to loss of jobs, loss of marriage or family, friends stop talking to you in real life, unless they're a part of the game, too, and other hazards.
As I said before, you may not believe me when I tell you these things, and I'm not sure how Runescape is when it comes to the addiction level.
For Everquest, though, there have been many deaths, break ups, losses, etc from people who have become too addicted to the game. If you pay close enough attention to the news you will see articles about Anti-Everquest, if you've heard of Moms Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) you can also find groups like Moms Against Everquest or other groups with similar names, and, like I said, other various things. The social addiction of this online game will suck your life away if you are not cautious (and I can only assume that it also happens with other online games).
One instance of a horrible Everquest story...
A guy was out of school, graduated and everything. He started playing Everquest and was really getting into it. He still lived with his family, but he locked himself away from his family and no longer played with his brother. He lost his job, probably because he didn't want to leave home or get any sleep because he'd miss out on a raid or group. They said this guy was found crying because of things like an item of his was stolen by an online character, or something failed. Often times his mother would try to steal his keyboard or mouse and hide them from him so he'd get a life, but he would just steal her credit card and buy another one (they're cheap after all) as well as use it to renew his Everquest subscription. After a while his mother finally got this guy to go to an addiction class and get a job at another pizza place. Things started going upward for the guy again. He moved out into an apartment of his own with his earned money, but he then began playing Everquest again. This time his mother could not come and do anything for him because he unplugged his phone and locked the doors completely. He quit his job again and lived off of pizza.
Two years ago on Thanksgiving his mother made her way into the guy's apartment to try getting him to come to Thanksgiving dinner. What she found was a cluttered, messy apartment full of empty pizza boxes. The room where her son played on the computer, the computer was on, her son sitting on the chair dead with a gun in his hand. After investigation they reported that after checking through this guy's recent character logs that it was quite possible that the cause was a broken heart because an online sweet heart on Everquest turned him down.
Scarey, isn't it?
Some other stories, much shorter ones, go like this...
One guy was so into Everquest that when his loud mouth child under the age of 10 years old came to try playing with his dad, the guy would get angry at the interruption, bang the child's head on the wall, and close him away in a closet/drawer. Eventually the child died.
A lady who was very into Everquest, one hot summer day, came home with her daughter and ran into the house and started to play Everquest. Only she forgot to let her daughter out of the car, which caused her daughter to die in the super heated car interior.
I'm sure you can find other stories about online games that cause really screwed up deaths and disorders in the world. But there's some that I can remember. I never watched the TV specials about Everquest. You could probably find a message board forum called "Spouses Against Everquest" rather easily through, I think it's on either MSN or Yahoo.
So remember guys, if you're in school or have a job, don't forget about them and keep doing your best! = Don't let playing online games addict you and prevent you from winning real life, or else you'll keep playing at a game with no end and rot your life away.
Myself, I know how to control this addiction. I have lots of stuff I need to do, so I keep reminding myself about them and get to them when I can.
Chamzel, that's disturbing! The odds are 250,000 to 1 or so, and they're still too high for me. Runescape virtually cannot do that to you. I, a hardcore runescape player, average 5-15 hours of runescape a week. The average everquest player averages twice as much, possibly playing 60 hours (2 1/2 days!) worth. Everquest is too damn addicting; I don't play it for fear of being engulfed. Also, you need to be a member to play runescape 2, however it will be out by april for non-payers. Deviant, it isn't boring. To try it, you must be a member, and rs2 is the same as members, but better. So if you want a kind of addicting MMORPG (tigerworks says this is really addictive; play everquest if you dare play an addictive game), this is it.

It's safe to say that online RPGs such as Runescape and Everquest will never be "complete". There will always be bugs and little other issues the need to be fixed... and don't forget CHARACTER CLASS BALANCE!! Gotta make every different type of character worth equal value as a group member as the other!
That's why I strive to achieve in runescape. Being a wizard is a diasadvantage at first, but I'm working hard and it's finally paying off. If wizard was an easy class, I wouldn't pay as much runescape. But it's not, and i do. Actually, my main focus is on the three non-direct forms of combat (magic, prayer, and, to a severely lesser extent, archery), seeing how they can all be used in battle while fighting. Sorry about the rambling.

You're probably too lazy to learn to craft. Shame. You could easily make tons off of jewelery (mining gold and gems in rimmington, smithing in falador, molds in rimmington). And I'm only 20 combat below you, so I'm not THAT bad, considering I know several players twice as strong as you. And archers suck, the xp-stealing leeches. Also, how the crap did you make 10 mil off of fishing?

"You're sating runescape's worse then that load of crap...": Yes I am. You forgot to mention that Wyvern is LOADS of dried crap, auseful fuel. You seem to know something to tell you that Wyvern is a load of crap. Then tell me, name one thing that acid spheres drop.
"And just because you have no social life....": Careful where you tread, karnage. You have violated internet privacy. Or you made a guess which I will eternally laugh at you about for making such a guess with no information.
"...and prefer to hang out with those who have just as bad a taste in games as you do...": I think you're on to something about that bad tastes. Negative bad tastes, that is. And I don't know if my friends deserve such compliments...
"...you can't say rs has no social.": My rights are protected under the First Amendment. Yes I can. And its true. There is almost no advantage of having friends in Runescape.
You spelled my name "darmaini". I take that as "dam a ini". Yep, I'll put a dam between you and the people listed in the International Nursing Index when you really need them.

Darmani the strong, Darmani the brave, Darmani the.......................idiot who fell off a cliff!
You're telling me that I'm violating you're rights, and you just pretty much said "Go get a fatal disease and die." You are SO lucky I do not know where you live, punk.
