Klik and Play was mentioned on SomethingAwful the other day. He spelt the title wrong, but it's a bit of publicity.
We could only use KNP because we knew nothing better, we didn't know of its limitations compared to GFactory. I don't think I could go back to it now. But then again, I'm still working on moving forward to MMFusion as well.
Click n Create was like The Games Factory, except focused more on application development instead of game development. It's basically the same thing as TGF.
I tried to make it obvious that I have heard of it, but pretending that I never heard of CnC. Yeah I have heard about it, wanted to download it years ago but Clickteam weren't any help.
But thanks, if I was new to klikking I'd shake your hand!
I was one of the masters of KNP back the old days. Ahh, all that fake AI, the fog-of-war attempt, attempts to bring more than 8 values across frames. *nostalgic sigh*. It's not really that tough mastering something so simple, though. I wrote a KNP FAQ for it, and it got in the Top 5 Downloads for 3 weeks straight (yeah, they usually resetted the list every week, but there was some bug there that stayed for 3 weeks).
It couldn't scroll, it didn't have a negate function, it had no extensions, it had very poor coordinate control, heck, it could only support 256 objects. I don't know HOW I ever used it. But I did. And those were my days of Click glory.
Disclaimer: Any sarcasm in my posts will not be mentioned as that would ruin the purpose. It is assumed that the reader is intelligent enough to tell the difference between what is sarcasm and what is not.
I used to have more fun with KNP as a n00b than I ever do now. I wish I could go back in time.
Show me the power child,
I'd like to say,
That I'm down on my knees today,
Gives me the butterflies,
Gives me away,
'Til I'm up on my feet again,
I'm feeling outshined.
It's because we always try and overcomplicate things now. I seem incapable of making a simple game any more - I have to add things to it until it exceeds my Click capability (which, let's be honest, shouldn't take very long).
