Anyway, I can't say I really stick to one genre, I like just good games on their own. It does help if they're gory and violent.
Examples of which games I like:
Max Payne 1&2
Unreal Tournament
Worms 1,2&3D and the variations
Severance: Blade of Darkness
Soldier of Fortune 1&2
Manhunt
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series (and Underground)
Grand Theft Auto series
Duke Nukem 3D
Aliens Vs Predator 1&2
Resident Evil series
Serious Sam 1&2
That's all I can be arsed to come up with right now. Maybe I could say my favourite genre is like Action or summat.
Oh yeah, and I like FPS games with an actual story (thanks for reminding me, AT). Like Max Payne, or Call Of Cuty, etc. FPS games like Quake 3 I think suck.

I agree, a good story helps a lot. UT even has some kind of story, whereas Q3 does not. Max Payne is great for having a good story, it's quite a lot like playing a movie, especially the second game.
Old skool shoot 'em ups, adventure games, platformers and FPSs are my favourites
some of my favourite games are the Metroid series, Zeldas, Blizzard entertainment games, R-type series.. an heaps more, but can't be stuffed typing them all
i think one of my favourite adventure/fps games would have to be the metal gear solid series, has anyone ever played those?, they are realllllyyyy good for stories
help!, i've fallen and i cant ge....hey, nice carpet!
Yeah, MGS is cool. Zelda kicks really large amounts of ass!
I like actions games, and adventure games. And platfrom games. And... nah, screw it. I like most GOOD games, really. Like UT2004(Man, it kicks ass), Far Cry(Download the demo, now! That's an order!), Zelda-games(When you buy a Zelda game, you know you're buying a quality game), Mario Kart: Double Dash!!(Dude! It's a good game! No need to make fun of me! You bastard.),MGS2(I can't wait for Snake Eater), Jak II(A kinda "nicer" platform version of GTA), Everything or Nothing(There have been alot of lousy Bond games after Goldeneye(whic was pretty good), but here it is, finally, a pretty good Bond game!) ect ect... I could probably go on like that for a while...
And "oldies" are pretty fun too. Like Super Mario World, Jet Force Gemini, Yoshi's Island, ect...
The content above makes absolutely no sense. But I guess you've already figured that out.
I really don't go for genres any more. There's a piece of crap in every genre as well as an exceptionally good game. If I have to pick favorites, I'd say RPG and turn-based strategy. FPS and RTS games tend to be too simple (though they are many good ones, e.g. Rise of Nations, Max Payne, Mafia, Warcraft).
