I'm making a plateform game and I've finished my custom engine but, now I have a new problem. How do I get the animations to line up with the characters movement. Here's and example-when characters going up change animation to jumping and when in the air and pressing shoot-change animation to in air slash. I've tried to code when your standing still and pressing shoot that your animation changes to slash but it just flashes the first frame of the animation. Can someone pless help me?
I'm feeling a bit wella

You need to limit your conditions so that it's not possoble for the program to ever try to display more than one animation at a time. For example when you're NOT moving left and NOT jumping and NOT shooting and are pressing right and animation right is NOT already playing, display animation for walking right (note I'm not talking about animations, you have to be more specific). It may also help to make sure all of your animations are looping.

If you change an animation to the one that's already playing, it shouldn't restart. At least, not in my experience anyway.
