Method to my madness:
I hope you like my project. I started this project inspried by a very basic game I played at hardcorepawn.com simply named "Zombies". The game was very basic but fun but even thought it had aroun 4 or 5 sequels they never really gave it the upgrades or extra features to make it great. My idea was to make a game close to the "Zombies" series without making an exact rip off of it. Thus Contamination Zone was born.
Story:
The story (yes I can make a semi-original zombie storyline) is far from done. I have about 1 and half pages saved somewhere on my hard drive but I can't remeber where. But I do remeber the basics of it.
Contamination Zone takes place in 2012. As with most zombie games the virus (or pathegen I havent decided) or what ever caused the outbreak was set in motion by a cult that is deeply seeded in modern society. The cult has sat in the shadows in wait of the "final hour". The final hour is a variation of Y2K only for 2012 and I based the cult on the Mayan calender and fact that it ends with 2012 A.D. Although the cult is quite old they have been able to infiltrate various government organizations. They had a member placed in a bio-chemical weapons facility located in a small town as a cover. This member steals a newly created virus/pathegen named p-28 code name BREEZE. Breeze is airborne but can only survive in an oxygen rich enviroment outside a host body for around 3 minutes before it starts to break down and die. The member of the cult stole large ammounts of the virus and then promptly brought it to their sect of the cult.
The "final hour" to them is the deadline before the afterlife bocomes full and wont accept any more souls. This cult beleives this time is exactly 12:00 A.M. on Jan 1 of 2012. They intened to kill themselves and everybody in the vicinty before said time. Enter "The mercenary" (he has a name i just forgot it), he and his team of ex special ops soldiers are hired by the goverment when they realize their situation. They are to infiltrate the temple and aprehend all the cultists and bring back the samples. Unfortunately breeze has a 5% human immunity rate, sadly breeze never went to human or primate testing so the government never had a clue.
The team fails to get inside the temple before the cultists finish their work. They manage to get in the temple around 15 minutes after the drug had been used. All the cultists are dying fast, except one. Those immune to the virus don't suffer death but perhaps a fate much worse... You guessed it, zombification! The immunity causes the virus to mutate and become a new strain which is pased through direct contact. There is around a 10 minute coma period where the host apears to be dead. While the team is disposing of the bodies when 3 members of the 4 man team are bitten causing the mercenary to kill the zombie and tend to his comrads. they eventualy turn and he is forced to kill his own friends. T
he game takes place in April 4 months after that night. Earth is in shambles and the U.S. government is a happy memory of those who can remember. The mercenary is currently hired by the New Brittan government to clear out isolated areas for re-habitation. Although you initialy work for them you can play missions from other contries.
Game Funtions and Play:
Right now I'm in very early production phases and I only have 5 current weapons for use. Zombie AI is my biggest concern although I have just started slow but steady methods to impliment it. The goal is to run though a small map of around 30 - 400 (yeah its gonna be tough) zombies. There will be a counter in the top right displaying how many zombies are left.
There will be many game modes like co-op missions and multiplayer (up to 4 players with a gamepad) and a survival mode. There will also be different mission types like "Cleanse", "Defender", "Turf", and "Hideout".
In "Defender" missions you will start out on a bigger map thats already been re-inhabited. Around 4 zombies will start running to the civilians and turning the Civs into zombies. This causes a massive "piss in water" effect that is extremely hard to save most of the civilians. You will only get money for the remaining civilians uninfected and for zombie kills. there will also be a counter in the top right displaying how many civilians are left
In cleanse mode you will simply use your arsenal to kill all zombies in the area.
In Turf mode you will kill zombies on a big map until you have killed all zombies within a close distance to all safe houses (places with people inside). So you dont really need to kill all of them.
In hideout you will sit out in an area thats being evacuated. The only problem is that they need a distraction. You will sit in a house that draws in all zombies to you for massive slaughter until the time is up. good luck with that.
Extra featuress:
I hope to add a weapon creation system so you can arm yourself from the environment. I also want to add a mercenary system so you can get some hired help. Thats all the extras i think I can do.
Graphics and weapons:
Right now the graphics are horable and will get MANY updates in the future but they are my lowest priority.
The weapons I have done are the 9mm pistol, the magnum, a baseball bat, a sword, and a chainsaw. There will be many more in the final version.
Update exspectations:
Although I really like working on this project it is only a side project as are the other 2 unnamed games im making. I am a highschool student and can only hope to work on this project over the weekends. All my other free time is spent doing homework and playing games. I will hopefully have a demo of mission 1 ( a cleansing mission) done within the month. although the graphics will be completley horable and there wont be more than 10 weapons max, you will be able to get an idea of what my project is like.
