Project Overview
Preview In the dying days of the roman empire, you play a general in the remote province of Germania Inferior.

Deal with barbarian attacks, conquer the villages, and complete quests. Will you win the people's hearts and lead the province to prosperity, or will you conquer the villages with blood and steel, and keep the people living in fear?

You are far from Rome, and the empire is crumbling. Will you stay loyal to the emperor in Rome, or will you carve an empire for yourself out of your province?

Some screens of the early gameplay situations in the game.

1. Just starting out the game. All villages are neutral, you enter the province from the road to rome. The character window has not been filled in yet. Relationhip with the emperor is at 50, meaning it is neutral. You start with 5 troops and 0 gold. The 5 at the bottom is for game testing purposes only and should not really be there.

2. Here a village has been subdued, but is revolting! The player will have to go to the village to quell the rebellion, or if he has more gold than troops, issue a tax return. A revolt stops all tax income, and if left unattended will make a player lose control of the village. Also, a messenger from the emperor has arrived on the road to rome. The player will be faced with choices here, to defy or obey the emperor. Also at the center of the screen is an old wise man with a quest opportunity.

3. Here another village is undet the player's control, but by peaceful means this time. Popularity is at 100, letting the player assume leader ship of the village. As long at popularity is kept over 50, there will be no risk of a revolt here. We can also see that the village of Durkheim has 16 able-bodied males, ripe for recruiting, or if your popularity is low, conscription! The village has 6 gold for looting, or possibly trading. To the east, a barbarian horde has set its sights on the easternmost village, and it is up to the player to react.

4. Oh no! The player was too late, and the village was scorched. It can be rebuilt for an amount of gold. This will, assuming you did not destry the village yourself by looting it too much, give you a popularity boost there. If a village reached 0 population and 0 gold it will be scorched.

That's about it for now. I'd love some comments, ideas or questions on this!
