Project Overview  
Preview Welcome to my new project, Skystar Chronicles: Darkstar!
(The name is subject to change. I made it up on the spot for this project page.)

What would happen if you mixed D&D, Diablo and Morrowind? This game!
It is set within my Skystar universe, and "Skystar Chronicles" will act as sort of a franchise name, and I hope to make many games in its series in the future.

The main feature of this game will be an expansive open world, full of quests, loot and places to explore.
The game will be played from a first-person perspective, with D&D inspired combat. There will be no mana or stamina bars, only health, and spellcasting will be handled similar to that of Neverwinter Nights.
The game will ofcourse feature leveling of your character, where you gain feats, abilities, spells and stats depending on your class(es).

The Graphical style is yet undecided. I am more of a pixel art guy in that department, so hopefully I will be able to attract some good artist when I have an actual working tech-demo to show off, but that is a long ways away still.

I'm using XNA 4.0 for this project, which I fell in love with when I first tried it. Ditched java right away. Though I've only used it for about 6 months, I'm quickly learning. That means the game might also make it to XBOX, but... I'm getting ahead of myself!

The goal is to make a game of a high enough quality to sell, and by that, take my first steps into the real game development world. Start (or join) a company, and all that good stuff. Making sure to remain independent ofcourse.

So, why am I posting this project here? Because I love this site, ofcourse!

Well, that's that then. Hopefully I will keep updating this project, unlike a certain other project I abandoned long ago... Don't hold your breath for frequent updates though, the game is in very early development, and it WILL be years before it's finished, no doubt.

Current Progress

So, currently the game is in VERY early development. Meaning, I've only coded the graphical user interface so far. And even THAT isn't complete yet. But from all the tutorials and sample code I've looked at in the last months, I have a good feeling about this project. I've learned a ton of useful stuff that I can use in my game.

Well, that's that for the current progress. I will TRY to keep posting updates as frequently as I can, but it's hard to make a promise. Seeing as I have certain... problems. Namely asbergers syndrome, which makes it hard for me to get into communities like this. Anyways!

At some point, I will probably make an actual website for this project. Don't know when, don't know where.
