I have not yet entirely decided on this game's storyline.
This game is an overhead shooter. Control and movement is similar to eight direction, but with a very important difference. Like in Metroid Prime (best 3d game ever), you can lock on to enemies. This means that you are free to move around whilst being locked on to an enemy. This has been implemented pretty seemlessly (including a nice dynamic camera change).
The lockon system makes for some cool battles where you weave in and out from behind crates for cover, then strafe out and release a few shots.
The enemies are androids (for the earlier sections at least) who have, for the most part, some nice AI.
Visually, I am giving this game a pseudo-3d look using some detailed shading. It is going to be quite dark so I can give it a creepy atmosphere.
I started this game earlier this week and I am glad to say that development is going very smoothly. I may even release an early demo sometime today!
