Project Overview |
|
This is planned to be a universal map editor, able to be used for any 2d purpose. It's key features are:
Loads tiles from external libraries;
-Currently, all the image files have to be seperate in the library folder. It might change that the images are put into one lib file.
Support For catogorization of images;
-You can specify what images go in each catagory. Currently, they have to be sequential images. (IE. Can't say image 2,5 and 8. must say 2-
23 Property values for each object;
-You can assign up to 23 values for each plopped item on the map.
Custom External Property/Option Dialogues;
-This is the key feature, you can supply your own dialogues with your library and define which dialogue to open when an object's property dialogue is selected. These can be made with MMF's Internet application feature.
Layering options;
-Like the MMF frame editor, you can layer your objects. (Layer Object compatible)
Grid Options;
-Snap to, snap all objects, (Snap selected objects and Grid dimensions comming soon)
Automatically detects frame boundaries;
-Unless specified otherwise, MapEd will automatically figure out the dimensions of the playfield based on the objects you plopped. (In MMF, frame size can be changed with the Frame Size object. Do that before the level is to be loaded)
Easy to create custom dialogues, no nonstandard extensions required!
Simple save format, easy for anyone to figure out how to load it into their game.
Drag selection, move selected objects, and other things you expect from a level editor!
Long Live The Right-Click Menu!
Hope this interests you. If you have any suggestions, comments,etc, feel free to speak... err... type.
