Smoking tastes bad, smells bad, makes you smell bad and gives you short breath and higher chances of dying and is an expensive thing to do. On the plus side, you get a little niccotine rush. I never did understand smoking.
Marijuana, now that's a whole other matter.
Weed is better for you than smoking tobacco is. And it isn't addictive, well I don't think so anyway. You can quite easily go a few weeks without a joint, whereas cigarette smokers have several cigs a day. Plus weed really shouldn't be illegal while alcohol and tobacco are legal.
All of the carcinogens in cigarettes are present in pot, I think it's only healthier because it's less addictive/harder to get. You can't really become a pack-a-day smoker with weed.
Marijuana has been proven to be not addictive, but it can become a habit in the same way that biting your nails or gambling does. The main problem is that a lot of people mix with tobacco, and that's what they get hooked on.
Not all of the carcinogens in tobacco are present in marijuana, especially manufactured cigarettes which have additives, whereas most marijuana is pretty pure. I'm sure that'd change though if it was legalised and mass produced like cigarettes.
isnt cannabis the only thing you cant die from overdose with? you can die from too much drinking water, too many apples but ive heard that cannabis has no limits.
i agree there trevor, weed isnt legal but cigarettes and alcohol are on the good side of the law. maybe because we dont need yet another legal drug out there.
Nobody's mentioned that marijuana causes learning and memory problems and destroys motivation. Clever people who can't be bothered to go to university, or don't care, and stuff.
TeaPOT: weed's addictive, but not as addictive as tobacco (which I've read is equivalent to heroine in addictivity). Anything that generates endorphines is addictive, because your body always wants more of them, that's why they feel good in the first place. Having sex generates endorphines, so we want to do it as often as possible, which is our bodys way of making sure we reproduce.
Jay: You could die from an overdose, just not easily. You need like a hundred times more to die than you do to pass out, and it acts quickly.
my brother used to be a real smart person, hell he was 8 and he was finishing the real smart point and click adventure games. even making a few KnP games. but recently hes gotten into drugs and smoking and stuff. nows hes pretty much the equivalent of a retard, hes only 15 and hes leaning out of his bedroom window smoking at 2am stinking the house out. my dad even built a smoke alarm in a hidden place in his room cant wait for him to set it off
seriously drugs, peer pressure and hanging around with pricks has pretty much destroyed him. and because hes too soft to say no.
that said an uncle of mine is 40-odd. been smoking a lot ever since he was 14 and whilst not the perfect picture of health, is doing ok. had 2 dogs that survived way into thier teens too.
It all depends whether you're a casual user, like I'd call myself, or dependent on cannabis. I've had 'friends' before who I'd describe as dependent, but I only like it enough to have the odd one, rather than twelve a day.
