Okay, I'd like to start by saying that I don't know jack shit about 3D modeling, and my knowledge of 3D modeling terminology equals zero. So I'm probably going to sound very stupid and noobish in this post, but hey, it's my first time doing this, 'kay?

So here's my story: Recently, I decided that I wanted to learn 3D modeling, so I googled around and found Blender. It's free, and it supports all MMF2-compatible formats (that would be the MD2 format, which the 3D Mesh extension uses). So I downloaded Blender and started messing around with it.

So far, I've managed to make some simple figures and I've managed to unwrap, UV-map and texture them. Okay, so here's my problem: While playing around with the editing interface, I noticed that all faces (surfaces) of a mesh has two sides, where only one side of the face will be textured. Makes sense? My problem is that when making a face (by selecting some vertices and pressing F), I can't seem to control which side of the face becomes the textured side. And I can't seem to flip the face either, or at least I can't find the menu command for doing so.

I feel stupid, because everything else is going fine, but I've been struggling with this same simple thing for days now! And I know there's probably some ridiculously easy solution to this. So does anyone here have any experience with Blender, and can you please tell me what I'm missing here?

Hay, you're using Blender 3D? I couldn't get it to export to MD2 properly. Can you? *points*

Yup. Just UV map the mesh and add an image to it and it should work.

Have you sorted this now? Because couldn't you just group the whole thing together as one object and then texture it? Or at least the pieces you want to apply it to..? I'm sure there's a way to do that :\ I use Cinema 4D, personally

Blender sucks as a 3d modelling tool, I'd recommend you to use wings3d (it's free too) and then map the model in blender later.

I don't want frickin' Maya, I just want something simple that suits my needs. Blender is fine, it's just that I'm still trying to figure out how to do certain things. Or rather, how to do them properly.
